The Alma Mater Society (AMS) is the University of British Columbia's (UBC) student society, and works to improve the academic, social and personal lives of the 56,000 UBC students at its Vancouver campus. The AMS also runs nine food and beverage outlets, a catering and conference operation, and the AMS Student Nest, providing on-campus employment opportunities and generating revenue that goes directly back into supporting the students at UBC.Position title: SASC Assistant Manager, EducationDepartment: AMS Sexual Assault Support Centre (SASC) Reports to: SASC Manager Supervises: SASC Educators, student staff, and volunteersEmployee Status: Year contract with possibility of extension, full-time, salaried Hours per week: Compensation: $65, ,000 annually with additional benefits package       Position Purpose The AMS Sexual Assault Support Centre (SASC) is a service for people of all genders and identities located at the UBC Vancouver campus. The SASC is committed to creating a safer campus community free from sexualized violence, which involves providing support services and education on campus. Run by full time staff and students since 2002, the SASC serves UBC students, staff, faculty, and people with a connection to the UBC campus through various community resources and services. This position is a temporary full-time position (37.5 hours per week), and oversees Educators within the SASC's Education & Outreach portfolio. The SASC provides support services to people of all genders and identities and operates from an intersectional and anti-oppressive approach. We view lived experience as expertise and consider it to be equally as valuable as academic and professional experience when reviewing applications. We strongly encourage candidates from marginalized communities and intersecting identities to apply, including Indigenous people, racialized/people of colour, poor and working class people and those on social assistance, people living with disabilities, and LGBT2QIA+ folk. Duties and Responsibilities:Directly supervise SASC Educators, including hiring, supervision, performance management, employee discipline, and termination Shapes the vision and direction of the SASC Education + Outreach programming in conjunction with the SASC Manager, and AMS Senior ManagementLead the development of curriculum for SASC Education portfolioCreate educational content - including workshops, asynchronous courses, and other delivery modes - that address educational needs within the UBC student community on topics relating to consent, sexual violence, relationships, and other topics within the service's scopeActively develop and maintain relationships with campus stakeholders, including student groups and campus colleaguesLead outreach portfolio including organising events, outreach events, boothing and other engagement and education opportunities on campus Order and maintain educational materials and keep resources up to date included but not limited to community referrals, sexual health and SASC promo material Work closely with the SASC Manager and SASC support branch management to ensure both service branches are operating cohesively and that the needs of survivors of sexual violence are reflected in the operations and curriculum of Education workContinually evaluate and assess the education & outreach programming, incorporating community feedback and evolving community needsOversee online communications and engagement, including creating content, promoting and directing traffic to SASC social media and monthly newsletters Refer to SASC Support & Advocacy team for survivors seeking support services as needed and maintain up-to-date knowledge of on and off campus services Support the organization and implementation of staff meetings and supervisory meetings Uphold the standards of confidentiality and respect Works collaboratively with AMS Student Executives, Student Services staff, permanent staff, and other student staffPerforms and produces work that is consistent with the values of the SASC and the AMS of UBC VancouverOther duties as assigned Qualifications and Experience:Relevant post-secondary education and/or combination of training/education/experience. A minimum of three years of experience in the field of sexual violence support and preventionA minimum of three years' experience in education-based workSkilled in workshop facilitation, public speaking, and community engagement. Experience in event planning and community engagement Specialized knowledge of sexual assault, including legal and medical systems and procedures. Previous experience providing emotional and practical support to survivors of sexual assault and/or violence is a significant asset. Experience working within a feminist and/or social justice organization is an asset. Excellent organizational skills, flexible, self-motivated and able to work and make decisions independently and collaboratively. Outstanding communication skills both in person and in writing. Experience working with diverse communities is an asset. Experience working within an educational context, and/or within the UBC campus community is an asset. Experience with the SASC is considered an asset.  Experiences with other feminist/anti-oppressive services may be considered.
