Our Controls & Automation students use their passion for technology and appetite for new challenges to tackle improvements across our mill.  As a student, you'll have the opportunity to work with seasoned professionals to build your skills and gain meaningful automation and controls engineering work experience. We're looking for an Automation & Controls Student to join our sawmill facility located in High Level, Alberta. Our High Level Lumber Division safely and sustainably produces forest products for customers around the world so they can build their homes and their communities.  

Our ideal candidate has the following qualifications:

  • Currently enrolled in an Electrical, Mechanical or Mechatronics Engineering program.
  • Posses a Class 5-Graduated Driver's License prior to start date.
  • Excellent communication skills.
  • Mechanical aptitude and understanding of electrical machines.
  • A passion for technology and programming.
  • Strong organizational and analytical skills.
  • Ability to work independently and use own resources to find innovative solutions to new problems.

In this role you will:

  • Work on improvements to automation, controls and visualization.
  • Be driven to find solutions and look for ways to improve processes.
  • Recommend methods to improve safety, quality, throughput, and uptime.
  • Provide support to electrical personnel on shift.
  • Support industrial programming.
  • Work closely with highly experienced Process Control personnel.
