We are seeking a skilled Heavy Equipment Mechanic to join our team. This role involves diagnosing, repairing, and maintaining a wide range of heavy machinery and industrial equipment to ensure optimal operational performance. The ideal candidate will have extensive experience with various types of heavy equipment, including excavators, cranes, forklifts, and farm machinery. A strong background in dealership repairs, electrical systems, welding, and schematics is essential. This position offers an opportunity to work on diverse projects in a fast-paced environment, utilizing advanced mechanical and technical skills to support our operations.
Duties
- Perform routine maintenance and repairs on heavy equipment such as excavators, cranes, forklifts, and farm machinery
- Diagnose mechanical, electrical, hydraulic, and pneumatic issues using schematics and diagnostic tools
- Conduct welding and fabrication work as needed for equipment repairs or modifications
- Utilize hand tools, power tools, and specialized maintenance equipment to disassemble and assemble machinery components
- Operate heavy equipment for testing purposes after repairs to ensure proper functionality
- Maintain detailed service records and documentation of all repairs and maintenance activities
- Assist with troubleshooting electrical systems including HVAC components when applicable
- Provide excellent customer service by communicating repair status and recommendations effectively to clients or team members
- Adhere to safety protocols during all maintenance activities involving heavy lifting or hazardous materials
Qualifications
- Proven mechanic experience with heavy equipment such as excavators, cranes, forklifts, or similar machinery
- Dealership experience highly preferred
- Strong knowledge of Caterpillar equipment and other major brands like John Deere or Komatsu
- Skilled in welding, electrical troubleshooting, schematics reading, and automotive repair techniques
- Experience working with farm machinery and industrial equipment is a plus
- Ability to operate hand tools, power tools, and perform heavy lifting safely
- Mechanical knowledge combined with excellent problem-solving skills
- Familiarity with HVAC systems related to industrial equipment is advantageous
- Excellent customer service skills with the ability to communicate technical issues clearly
- Ability to work independently or as part of a team in a fast-paced environment
