The Lost Lake Nordic Trails department of the Community Services and Engagement division has an opportunity for qualified individuals to apply for the position of Equipment Operator II. Reporting to the Cross Country Supervisor, this position starts approximately December 8, 2025, to March 31, 2026, in the evenings and weekends.

The Equipment Operator II plays a key role in grooming and maintaining the Lost Lake Nordic ski trails, ensuring a safe and enjoyable experience for guests and passholders. This position involves safe operation, servicing, and maintenance of winter snow grooming equipment, as well as trail repair and hazard management. Duties also include supporting snowmaking operations and performing basic facility maintenance, including washroom cleaning and garbage removal.

Qualified candidates have a grade 12 diploma and at least 2 years of snow grooming experience, in addition to 1‐ 3 years of experience in a similar role operating (in adverse weather conditions) heavy and medium equipment, including snowcats, UTV's, ginzu groomers, snowmobiles, and snow guns. Qualified Candidates have considerable knowledge of the tools, machinery, and safe work practices related to winter trail grooming and ski area operations; possess a record of safe and efficient operation of equipment; practical knowledge of the Lost Lake Nordic Trail system; and have the physical strength and stamina to perform medium to heavy outdoor work in all weather conditions.

The successful candidate is customer service focused and is a strong team player who demonstrates excellent communication skills with proven abilities to effectively solve problems and work well independently. The successful candidate also demonstrates commitment to promoting a diverse and inclusive workplace and will contribute to a positive team environment. The starting wage for this position is $35.72 per hour.

As a requirement of the position, the successful candidate must hold a valid class 5 BC driver's license and must provide a satisfactory driver's abstract prior to beginning employment.
