Dawson Co-op invites applications for the position of Deli Manager to join our team at our Food Store located in Dawson Creek, British Columbia.

Reporting to the Food Store Manager, the Deli Manager is responsible for the day-to-day and overall operations of the Deli Department.

Key Job Responsibilities:

· Prepare, administer and be responsible for the day-to-day and overall operations of the Deli department; including sales, margins, expenses, inventory and the sales per employee hour ("SPEH")

· Ensure all staff adhere to standards for merchandising, housekeeping, appearance, marketing and loss prevention

· Ensure proper management of assets and adherence to a maintenance schedule

· Order and receive all ingredients and supplies according to production requirements

· Ensure equipment is properly maintained and cleaned

· Ensure case temperatures are monitored and kept within acceptable ranges

· Ensure adherence to the "Image Checklist" for facilities and equipment

· Monitor and minimize spoilage

· Assist in the preparation of the annual budget and ensure claims, invoices and all other paperwork is completed in an accurate and timely manner, while following all procedure requirements

· Direct the day-to-day work and monitor the performance of Deli employees

· Implement, enforce and maintain written performance expectations and standards

· Be responsible for developing staff training plans and ensure they are followed

· Adhere to and enforce all Dawson Co-operative Union policies and procedures

· Adhere to and enforce all Dawson Co-operative Union health and safety standards, per the Health and Safety manual

· Plan for self development and take initiative to improve own knowledge, skills and abilities

· Other duties as assigned

Working Conditions:

  • Based at our Dawson Creek Food Store
  • Standard shifts are eight hours, five days per week; with flexible hours as required
  • Infrequent travel within Dawson Creek is required and there will be some out of town travel as well for workshops and additional training
  • Requires frequent interaction and follow through with Customers, Suppliers, Management, Team Leaders and Team Members

Qualifications:

  • Minimum of grade 12 education, preference given to candidates with post-secondary education in food preparation, business, or other related industry
  • Three to five years of professional experience in the Food industry
  • Previous leadership experience
  • Demonstrated data entry skills; ability to use computer software
  • Positive and results oriented attitude; to prospect, communicate and identify opportunities for success
  • Motivated self-starter
  • Strong ability to maintain positive relationships at all levels

Compensation and Benefits

· Between $50,350 and $75,525, commensurate on qualifications and experience
