Your Opportunity
One Permanent Full Time Position.
The Trade Control Analyst is responsible for ensuring the integrity, accuracy, and compliance of daily trading operations within the Middle Office under the Commodity Risk Management framework. This role supports deal validation and confirmations, maintains exception and compliance reporting, and validates critical data for settlement and risk purposes. The analyst executes and contributes to developing robust trading and risk controls, supports audit inquiries, and ensures all trading activities adhere to risk policies, delegation of authorities, and internal limits. Additionally, the Trade Control Analyst ensures all deals are accurately captured in the ETRM system and that workflows are configured to support validations, confirmations, amendments, and settlements.
You will contribute to our team by:
Deal validation: Oversee new deal checkout process each day and validate the accuracy of transactions in the ETRM.
Confirmations: Confirm bilateral transactions. Review incoming confirmations and compare transaction details to ETRM for discrepancies. Prepare and send confirmations to counterparties in a timely manner.
Exception reporting: Maintain a centralized audit log to track all late deal entries, deal amendments, missing price data, and other data management requirements to support trade compliance exception reporting. Produce internal trade compliance exception reports to ensure visibility and transparency into process and control effectiveness.
Data validation: Source and validate actual data as needed for settlement and invoicing purposes. Perform periodic and independent validation of calculations or data relied upon for risk reporting or risk quantification purposes.
Trading and risk controls: Develop, maintain, and execute relevant Middle Office and Risk controls.
Audit inquiries: As needed, support internal and external audit inquiries related to trading, hedging, and risk management activities.
Monitoring: Ensure that all strategies and transactions executed are authorized by the risk policy. Ensure that all transactions and exposures are consistent with the organization's delegation of authorities and within internal limits.
ETRM system: Ensure that all proposed and existing deals can be accurately captured in the ETRM system.
Workflow configuration: Ensure all workflows for new and existing deals are configured to support validations, confirmations, amendments, and settlements.
What you will bring to the role:
Education:
Post-secondary education related to auditing, business, accounting, economics, finance, and/or risk management; related experience or education may be considered as an equivalent.
Experience:
2+ years of trade control, operations, or middle office roles within trading, commodities, or financial services.
Experience with deal validation, confirmations, exception reporting, and compliance.
Exposure to ETRM systems and supporting audit inquiries.
Technical Skills:
Intermediate Microsoft Excel and Office Suite.
Intermediate ETRM system and SQL proficiency.
Data validation for settlement, invoicing, and risk quantification.
Basic understanding of markets, commodities and trading concepts.
High attention to detail and accuracy in transaction validation.
Strong organizational and documentation skills.
Effective communication for confirmations and audit support.
Professionalism, reliability, and ability to work collaboratively.
Ability to identify and resolve discrepancies and exceptions.
Working Conditions:
Office position, with possible very minimal travel to meet business users at Capital Power facilities or other offices.
Location: Calgary or Edmonton, AB

This position will remain open until a suitable candidate is found.
Clearance of Credit check is required for this position.
