Job Overview

We are seeking a detail-oriented and organized Legal Assistant to support our legal team in various administrative and legal tasks. This role requires a proactive individual with strong communication skills, excellent organizational abilities, and familiarity with legal procedures. The ideal candidate will assist with conveyancing, due diligence as it relates to real estate, and supporting our real estate related practice.

Responsibilities

  • Conducting title searches and due diligence investigations
  • Reviewing real estate documents, including purchase agreements, covenants and leases and identifying material terms
  • Preparing mortgage and security documents and registering security documents with the Personal Property Registry and Land Title Office
  • Conducting due diligence searches on companies and real estate
  • Drafting real estate documents
  • Communicating with clients, real estate agents, and other parties involved in transactions
  • Coordinating and facilitating real estate closings
  • Managing and organizing physical and electronic files
  • Assisting with the preparation of legal documents and filings
  • Handling client inquiries and providing updates on case progress
  • Maintaining accurate records and documentation
  • Ensuring compliance with relevant laws and regulations
  • Providing support to lawyers and senior paralegals as needed
  • Handle administrative tasks such as filing, organizing, and scheduling

Experience

  • Proficiency in English both verbal and written
  • Familiarity with the British Columbia land title system and the Land Title Office processes
  • Familiar with goveyance and soluno (will train if required)
  • Exceptional organizational and time management skills
  • Meticulous attention to detail
  • Ability to handle multiple tasks simultaneously
  • Full computer literacy, including proficiency in Microsoft Office 365 (Outlook, Word, Excel, and PowerPoint) and Adobe Suite
  • Self-motivated with the ability to work autonomously
  • Adaptable and productive in a challenging work environment

This role is integral to supporting our legal team's success through effective organization, research, and communication. We welcome candidates eager to grow their legal career in a dynamic environment committed to professionalism.

This position will require training on site for the first month then shift to hybrid, where up to two (2) days a week the candidate may work from home.

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: $48,000.00-$66,000.00 per year
