Overview

We are seeking a dynamic and proactive Media Relations Coordinator to join our communications team. This role is essential in managing and enhancing our organization's public image through effective media engagement, strategic messaging, and relationship building. The ideal candidate will possess excellent communication skills, a strong understanding of marketing principles, and the ability to craft compelling narratives that resonate with diverse audiences. Duties

  • Develop and execute media relations strategies to promote organizational initiatives, events, and achievements.
  • Cultivate and maintain relationships with journalists, editors, bloggers, and other media professionals.
  • Prepare press releases, media kits, speeches, and other communication materials with precision and clarity.
  • Coordinate interviews, press conferences, and media appearances for organizational spokespeople.
  • Monitor media coverage and analyze public sentiment related to the organization.
  • Conduct research on industry trends, competitors, and target audiences to inform communication strategies.
  • Proofread all outgoing content to ensure accuracy, consistency, and adherence to brand standards.
  • Collaborate with marketing teams to align messaging across various channels and campaigns.
  • Manage social media platforms by creating engaging content that supports media relations efforts.
  • Track media contacts and maintain an organized database of outreach activities.

Requirements

  • Proven experience in public speaking, media relations, or related communication roles.
  • Strong research skills to gather relevant information for strategic planning.
  • Excellent writing skills with the ability to craft clear, concise, and persuasive content.
  • Exceptional communication skills for effective interaction with media professionals and internal teams.
  • Attention to detail in proofreading and editing all written materials.
  • Background or knowledge in marketing principles is preferred but not mandatory.
  • Ability to work independently as well as collaboratively within a team environment.
  • Bachelor's degree in Communications, Public Relations, Marketing, or a related field is preferred but not required. This role is ideal for a motivated individual passionate about shaping public perception through strategic media engagement while supporting organizational objectives with creativity and professionalism.

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: From $18.27 per hour
