**Social Media Coordinator**

We are looking for a passionate Social Media Coordinator to create and maintain a strong online presence for UMSU and businesses. Reporting to the Marketing Manager, the Social Media Coordinator position is primarily responsible in the planning, development and execution of digital communications to our platforms such as umsu.ca, Instagram, Facebook, TV screens and the MyUMSU Newsletter.

**Responsibilities**
- Developing and posting content across social media platforms including Facebook, Instagram and LinkedIn
- Schedule posts for multiple active accounts across various social media platforms
- Working closely with the marketing team to collaborate on ideas for future content and best practices for each social media platform
- Engage in dialogues and answer questions for the company in social media spaces
- Analyze, review, and report on the effectiveness of campaigns to maximize results
- Reach out to relevant accounts to build relationships and collaboration opportunities
- Support the creation and development of content to relevant platforms
- Communicate with other members of the marketing, and executive teams to determine project requirements, objectives and organizational needs
- Creating and editing photos and videos to be published to social media
- Monitor campus community trends while assisting with the creation, collection and analysis of primary research
- Annually review and enhance the Social Media Strategy
- Create and supply quarterly analytic reports

**Required Skills and Qualifications**
- Degree, diploma or certificate in marketing or related field
- 1-3 years of marketing and communication experience, preferably in a not-for profit environment or equivalent combination of education and experience
- Excellent knowledge of taking and editing photos and videos
- Exceptional written and verbal communication, proofreading, and editing skills; copywriting experience
- Ability to multi task and shift between projects on a time sensitive basis in order to deliver against tight deadlines
- Strong organizational skills/project management skills
- Experience with Facebook, Instagram and WordPress
- Ability to work independently, take initiative to research solutions
- Ability to work flex hours required
- Incumbent should be self-motivated, dedicated, disciplined, creative and results driven

- Satisfactory work record, including satisfactory attendance and punctuality

**Desired Skills & Qualifications**:

- Passion for social media and proficiency with major social media platforms and social media management tools
- In-depth knowledge of Search Engine Optimization (SEO), keyword research and Google Analytics
- Basic knowledge of HTML, CSS, Microsoft Office, and Adobe Creative Cloud(Photoshop, Premier Pro) or Canva in a Mac environment is an asset
- Extensive experience in multiple social media platforms and developing social media strategies and best practices
- Ability to understand historical, current, and future trends in digital content and social media
- Ability to pick up new technical skills and concepts quickly
- Ability to identify new technologies to benefit department goals
- Demonstrated initiative to stay up to date with industry leader

**Salary**: $43,758.00-$46,522.00 per year
