With the exception of thermal spray application, employees working in this job classification are required to be apprentice/certified journeyperson welders.Job Description:

  • Repair worn parts and welding stock material to bring back parts to specifications

  • Read and interpret blueprints and welding process specifications

  • Fit sub-assemblies and assemblies together and prepare for welding

  • Lay out, cut and form metal to specifications

  • Fully Operate manual or semi-automatic welding equipment

  • Able to operate manual or semi-automatic flame cutting equipment

  • Operate brazing and soldering equipment

Qualifications:

  • Welding Journeyperson ticket, or interprovincial Red Seal, is required

  • Preference given to those who fall within the value stream & qualify as defined in Schedule C

  • Previous on-the-job training such as carbon arc gouging , Tig ,SMAW ,GMAW and FCAW

  • Previous experience with Heavy Equipment repairs an asset

  • You are able to work indoors with noise, vibrations and other hazards that are common to the job

  • You are able to work in uncomfortable or unusual positions at times

  • Must be able to communicate written and spoken English effectively

  • Ability to regularly lift and handle material weighing up to 40 pounds 

  • A condition of employment is the ability to be fit tested and the ability to wear a respirator 

  • Candidate must demonstrate the ability to work in a safe manner and comply in all aspects of the organizations policies and procedures 

Note:

  • This posting is for a static afternoon shift scheduled Monday - Thursday; 10 hours per day

  • Any future shift changes that may occur will be made in accordance with the terms and conditions of the Collective Agreement

  • Will require successful completion of drug and alcohol testing, a criminal background check, and a medical assessment

  • Hourly Rate: $53.05 – 56.23 / Hour
