VDK Group Inc. is currently seeking to hire a full-time Project Estimator for our Commercial Glazing Department. In this role, you will play a key part in supporting our commercial aluminum and glazing operations by preparing accurate takeoffs, developing detailed project quotations, and working closely with our project management and sales teams. You will have the opportunity to work on a wide range of commercial projects, such as storefronts, curtain wall, entrances, and specialty glazing systems, while contributing to the continued growth and excellence of our commercial division.
What You'll Do
- Review project plans, architectural drawings, and specifications to prepare accurate material takeoffs and cost estimates for commercial glazing projects
- Analyze project scope, technical requirements, and potential challenges to ensure all necessary components and labour considerations are included
- Prepare detailed and timely quotations for aluminum entrances, windows, curtain wall, and related glazing systems
- Collaborate closely with the sales team, and project managers to clarify project requirements and develop competitive pricing strategies
- Communicate with suppliers to obtain up-to-date pricing, product information, and lead times
- Maintain organized records of estimates, revisions, and correspondence for ongoing and future project reference
- Stay current with industry trends, new products, and manufacturer specifications to ensure accurate and informed estimating practices
- Support continuous improvement of estimating processes, tools, and templates to increase accuracy and efficiency
What You'll Bring
- A proactive and detail-oriented mindset with the ability to interpret architectural drawings, specifications, and technical documents accurately
- Experience in construction estimating, preferably within commercial glazing, aluminum systems, or a related field (storefronts, curtain wall, windows, or metal fabrication)
- Strong understanding of commercial construction methodologies, materials, and labour requirements
- Proficiency with estimating or takeoff software (e.g., Bluebeam, AutoCAD, or similar) is an asset
- Solid computer skills, including experience with Excel and other Microsoft Office applications
- Strong mathematical, analytical, and problem-solving skills with the ability to assess multiple project variables
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills for collaborating with internal teams, suppliers, and customers
- Ability to manage multiple bids simultaneously while meeting tight deadlines
- High level of organization and attention to detail
