Position Summary

We are seeking an experienced
Program Manager, Due Diligence & Risk Management
to join our Finance team and lead our Operational Due Diligence ["ODD"] program as well as support our Enterprise Risk Management ["ERM"] program. This newly created position will report to the Director of Enterprise Risk Management.

The role is responsible for developing an ODD program that ensures all investments are effectively assessed from a risk perspective, supports the execution of the ERM program, including risk identification, assessments, and reporting, as well as internal control evaluations and governance reviews.

What will I do?

Operational Due Diligence Responsibilities:

  • Collaborate with Finance and the Investment team and lead the design, implementation, and continuous enhancement of a comprehensive, risk-based Operational Due Diligence (ODD) framework aligned with organizational objectives.
  • Conduct ODD reviews for both existing and prospective external fund managers across hedge funds, public markets, and private funds.
  • Engage with third-party ODD consultants and critically evaluate their reports.
  • Proactively identify and escalate operational deficiencies or potential risks during ODD assessments and document actionable insights and recommendations to internal stakeholders.
  • Serve as the primary liaison for client and external investment manager inquiries related to operational due diligence, fostering open communication and ensuring timely resolution of issues.
  • Maintain up-to-date knowledge of applicable regulatory requirements and evolving industry standards.
  • Establish regular monitoring and internal knowledge-sharing with internal business partners to enhance ODD-related processes and controls, promote organizational compliance and ensure alignment on objectives and expectations.
  • Willingness and ability to travel domestically and internationally to conduct on-site operational due diligence meetings as required.

Enterprise Risk Management:

  • Collaborate with Risk Owners to support ERM activities, including the identification of risks and controls, the execution of risk assessments and the development of business continuity plans.
  • Prepare risk reports and update governance documentation.
  • Execute a robust internal control assessment program to validate and assess the effectiveness of all controls captured in the organizational risk register.

What will help me be successful?

Skills & Qualifications

  • University degree in a recognized technical, vocational or academic program, such as a Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, Business Administration, Mathematics, Engineering, or equivalent direct work experience.
  • Obtained or working towards a CPA, or a similar professional designation with a focus on assurance, preferred.
  • CFA, CAIA, FRM is an asset.
  • 8+ years of working experience in the public accounting, pension, consulting, or asset management industries.
  • Investment operations, middle office, and/or fund accounting experience are strong assets.
  • A working knowledge of financial instruments and investments.
  • Prior experience generating clear and concise reports for diverse stakeholders.
  • Experience analyzing large datasets, extracting meaningful insights, and identifying relevant trends.
  • Experience with Enterprise Risk Management practices and internal control evaluations
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Suite (i.e., Excel, Word), PowerPoint, VBA, Python, SQL and Tableau, and similar office tools.
