A - POSITION DESCRIPTION

1.    
Scope of Position:
The Plant Supervisor is responsible for overseeing day-to-day production operations across all cannabis processing and packaging rooms. This role ensures that all production activities are executed safely, efficiently, and in full compliance with Health Canada regulations, GPP/GMP standards, and internal quality requirements. The Plant Supervisor will lead a team of Team Leads and production associates to achieve daily output targets while maintaining exceptional product quality and consistency. The position also plays a critical role in resourcing and developing the operations functions, including supporting the recruitment and onboarding of trades, machinery, and maintenance function.

Key Responsibilities:

a.    Oversee all production room activities

b.    Lead, coach, and support the scheduling team, leads and production staff to meet daily and weekly production goals.

c.    Ensure all production is executed according to approved SOPs, batch records, and compliance standards.

d.    Maintain a strong floor presence to monitor workflow, troubleshoot issues, and reinforce adherence to safety and quality protocols.

e.    Partner with the VP of Operations to plan and execute production schedules, preventive maintenance, and process improvements.

f.     Enforce all Health Canada, GPP, and GMP regulations related to cannabis production, packaging, and sanitation.

g.    Ensure batch records, cleaning logs, and equipment usage forms are completed accurately and in real time.

h.    Support Quality Assurance in implementing corrective actions, internal audits, and process verifications.

i.     Uphold strict hygiene, sanitation, and environmental control standards in all production rooms.

j.     Plan daily manpower allocation and material usage across all production areas.

k.    Coordinate with Production, Supply Chain, Quality, and Maintenance to ensure seamless production flow.

l.     Track and report KPIs such as yield, throughput, downtime, and labor efficiency.

m.  Identify training needs and lead skill development for team members.

n.    Support recruitment and onboarding of new production staff and assist in structuring the operations team.

o.    Collaborate with leadership to identify opportunities for efficiency gains, cost reduction, and waste minimization.

p.    Participate in process optimization initiatives, equipment upgrades, and new product or format launches.

q.    Promote a culture of accountability, innovation, and continuous improvement across production operations.

Key Relationships:

a.    
VP of Operations:
Reports directly to and collaborates on a daily basis.

b.    
Production Team:
Works closely with the leads in the facility to ensure alignment on production, quality and compliance objectives.

c.    
Q/A Team:
Works closely with the quality team to ensure that the facility and products are produced according to our quality goals and regulatory guidelines

4.    
Decision-Making Authority:
The Plant Supervisor has the authority to make decisions regarding production schedule and overall direction of the facility. Major changes in strategy or policy require the VP of Operations approval.

5.    
Problem-Solving Responsibility:
Responsible for identifying and resolving complex production and maintenance challenges. Requires strong analytical skills to assess data and provide effective solutions.

B - POSITION SPECIFICATIONS

1.    
Formal Education and Training:

a.    Post-secondary education in Manufacturing, Operations, Food Science, or a related field (or equivalent hands-on experience)

2.    
Work Experience:

a years of experience in a regulated manufacturing environment (food, beverage, or cannabis preferred).

b years of supervisory or team leadership experience.

3.    
Other Key Skills/Product Knowledge:

a.    Strong working knowledge of Health Canada Cannabis Regulations, GPP/GMP, and QA/QC documentation practices.

b.    Proven ability to lead and motivate production teams to achieve operational excellence

c.    Exceptional communication, organization, and problem-solving skills.

d.    Proficiency with ERP, batch tracking, or production management systems is an asset.

C - POSITION CHARACTERISTICS

1.    
Impact & Accountabilities:
The Plant Supervisor directly impacts production output, efficiency, and compliance. Effective leadership ensures operational excellence and adherence to regulatory standards, contributing to product quality and company reputation.

Supervises Team Leads and production staff across all production rooms.

D - WORKING CONDITIONS

Work is performed primarily on the production floor, with some office-related administrative tasks. The role requires standing for extended periods, wearing appropriate PPE, and occasional lifting of materials or products.

Requires sustained concentration and decision-making in a dynamic production environment. Involves frequent coordination across departments and adherence to regulatory standards.
