Job description:

Blackbird Security is looking to hire a Proposal Writer who can apply their passion for turning technical content into compelling, eye-catching, and client-focused documents.

You will use your exceptional writing, critical thinking, and communication skills to construct corporate proposals and develop strategic messaging in collaboration with various departments. We are looking for a candidate who enjoys a fast-paced environment, takes initiative and can be a team player in order to deliver an exceptional product.

In this role, you will report directly to the RFP Manager and work with other members of the RFP Team.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

Proposal Writing:

  • Review project requirements and objectives through collaboration.
  • Draft and assemble proposals for business partnerships, contracts, and conduct research to gather information.
  • Revise and refine proposals for clarity and alignment with criteria.
  • Create supporting documents such as executive summaries and presentations.
  • Develop or gather additional documents required for the proposal, such as resumes, organizational charts, or financial statements.
  • Ensure all attachments and appendices are included and properly formatted.
  • Collaborate with other stakeholders to gather sensitive data.
  • Ensure compliance with proposal regulations and prepare required reports.

Strategic Writing:

  • Contribute to strategic planning with relevant written materials.
  • Develop content for internal and external communications, including reports and newsletters.
  • Conduct market research to inform strategic documents and communications in response to proposal requirements.

Project Management:

  • Coordinate writing processes, manage timelines, and ensure deadlines are met.
  • Collaborate with other departments and key stakeholders to gather information and ensure accuracy as a response in a detailed manner.
  • Create and manage proposal timelines, ensuring that all components are completed on schedule and communicate any roadblocks.
  • Track the proposal development process and make adjustments as needed to meet deadlines.

Continuous Improvement:

  • Stay updated on changes in opportunities and industry trends.
  • Evaluate proposal outcomes to incorporate into future responses.
  • Follow up with the client or issuing organization to confirm receipt and address any questions.
  • Participate in debrief sessions to review proposal outcomes and gather feedback for future improvements.

What would you bring?

  • Post-Secondary education in English, Business Management, Business Administration, Marketing, Communications, Social Sciences, or any relevant field.
  • 1-3 years of experience with Request for Proposals (RFPs), Requests for Quotes (RFQs), and other solicitation documents.
  • Excellent time management and organizational skills, with the ability to manage multiple proposals in a fast-paced environment and deal with changing priorities.
  • Ability to convey complex ideas clearly and concisely.
  • Skilled in crafting compelling arguments and demonstrating value.
  • Crafting engaging and persuasive content that captures attention.
  • Prior experience and knowledge of compliance guidelines and requirements
  • Ability to quickly learn various industries or new topics and adapt to changes in the scope of projects.
  • Ability to adapt to the needs of the team, or strong team player who works collaboratively to support the success of the team.
  • Ability to work under tight deadlines and handle pressure well.
  • Strong Organization and Time Management skills are essential
  • Strong Resource Management skills
  • Structuring the proposal development process and tracking progress.
  • Advanced proficiency with MS Office and Google Suite Products.
  • Open to working evenings and weekends (project-based).
