Role Overview

We are seeking Institutional Sales, to help develop Matco's Institutional distribution platform. This role will focus on originating new relations with investment advisors, financial planners, multi-family offices, non-profit organizations, endowments, trusts, etc.

Working closely with Matco's Portfolio Managers, Marketing, and Compliance teams, the successful candidate will play a key role in building and scaling Matco's institutional platform.

This is an ideal opportunity for a results-oriented professional who excels in sales and relationship development within the institutional space.

Key Responsibilities

Institutional Business Development & Sales

  • Drive new asset growth by developing and executing a targeted sales strategy
  • Position and sell Matco's proprietary mutual funds and investment strategies to institutional and advisor channels
  • Leverage an existing professional network while continuously expanding new relationships
  • Lead the full sales cycle from prospecting to onboarding, in collaboration with Portfolio Managers and Marketing teams

Prospect & Pipeline Development

  • Build and maintain a prioritized pipeline of qualified institutional prospects
  • Track outreach activity, meeting outcomes, and opportunity stages in CRM (Salesforce)
  • Provide regular pipeline updates and asset growth forecasts to senior management

Client & Advisor Engagement

  • Initiate and manage outreach via in-person meetings, phone, email, and LinkedIn
  • Conduct introductory and follow-up meetings independently and alongside Portfolio Managers
  • Act as a trusted point of contact for institutional prospects and clients, ensuring a high-touch, professional experience

Events, Webinars & Thought Leadership

  • Plan and host institutional-focused webinars, lunch-and-learns, conferences, and small-group roundtables featuring Matco investment strategies
  • Own event logistics, invitations, attendance tracking, and post-event follow-up
  • Partner with Marketing and Compliance to ensure messaging is current, compliant, and compelling
  • Gather and relay market intelligence, allocator feedback, and competitive insights to help refine product positioning

Brand & Relationship Stewardship

  • Represent Matco at industry conferences and networking events as a senior sales ambassador
  • Build long-term relationships based on trust, credibility, and consistent follow-through
  • Coordinate with Operations and Compliance to resolve client inquiries efficiently

Qualifications

  • 5+ years of experience in institutional sales, investor relations, or business development within asset management, wealth management, or capital markets
  • Demonstrated success selling investment products to investment advisors, financial planners, multi-family offices, non-profit organizations, endowments, trusts, etc.
  • Existing network within the Canadian institutional and advisor channels
  • Entrepreneurial, self-directed mindset with comfort operating in a growth-stage environment
  • Proven ability to generate leads through cold outreach, referrals, and professional networking
  • Proficient in CRM systems (Salesforce)
  • Excellent communication, presentation, and relationship-management skills
  • Experience organizing and executing institutional events and webinars
  • Bachelor's degree in Finance, Business, Economics, or related field
