Job Overview
We are seeking a dedicated and knowledgeable CSO to join our team. The ideal candidate will play a critical role in ensuring the safety and well-being of all employees and visitors within our clients sites. This position involves developing, implementing, and monitoring safety protocols to create a safe working environment. The CSO will also be responsible for conducting safety audits, training staff on safety practices, and ensuring compliance with local, provincial, and federal regulations.
Duties
- Develop and implement comprehensive safety policies and procedures.
- Conduct regular safety audits and inspections to identify hazards.
- Provide training sessions for employees on safety practices and emergency procedures.
- Monitor compliance with safety regulations and report any violations.
- Investigate accidents and incidents to determine root causes and recommend corrective actions.
- Maintain accurate records of safety inspections, incidents, and training sessions.
- Collaborate with management to promote a culture of safety within the organization.
- Utilize construction management software to track safety metrics and improvements.
Requirements
- Proven experience as a Safety Officer or similar role in a construction or industrial environment.
- Strong knowledge of local, provincial, and federal safety regulations.
- Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written.
- Ability to conduct training sessions effectively.
- Proficient in using construction management software for tracking safety data.
- Strong analytical skills with attention to detail.
- Certification in occupational health and safety (e.g., NEBOSH, OSHA) is preferred but not mandatory.
- Ability to work independently as well as part of a team.
- Must have CSO designation. NCSO preferred.
