Job Summary

We are seeking a reliable and experienced Local Driver to join our transportation team. The ideal candidate will be responsible for safely delivering freight and goods within the local area, ensuring timely and secure transportation. This role requires a strong focus on safety, vehicle maintenance, and customer service, with opportunities to operate heavy equipment and utilize various skills such as forklift operation and automotive repair.

Duties

  • Safely operate commercial vehicles to transport freight and goods within designated local routes
  • Load and unload freight using forklifts or other heavy equipment when necessary
  • Conduct routine vehicle inspections and perform basic automotive repairs to ensure optimal functioning of assigned vehicles
  • Maintain accurate delivery logs and documentation for each trip
  • Communicate effectively with dispatchers and clients regarding delivery schedules and any issues encountered
  • Follow all safety protocols, traffic laws, and company policies during transportation activities
  • Assist in warehouse operations as needed, including loading, unloading, and inventory management

Experience

  • Proven minimum of 1 year experience in commercial driving, with a valid driver's license suitable for operating heavy vehicles
  • Experience operating forklifts and other heavy equipment preferred
  • Knowledge of freight handling procedures and safety regulations
  • Basic automotive repair skills are a plus, enabling minor vehicle maintenance and troubleshooting
  • Prior experience with heavy equipment operation is advantageous
  • Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage time efficiently in a fast-paced environment
