Recreation Therapist

Location: Aurora, ON

*Must be available for 1-2 sessions (2 hours each) on TUESDAY daytime every week*

*Must have own car and be able to take clients for outings in your car*

**A 2 hour session can pay $28.25/hr. (including the documentation bonus and $7.50 travel fee that is paid per session)**

**Must be double vaccinated for Covid-19**

Responsibilities:

Provide Interventions

• Fulfill the regular role and duties of long term care recreation staff, facilitating recreation interventions for residents living with cognitive impairments, mental health issues and physical disabilities
• No toileting, dressing or feeding will be required

Documentation

• Comply with documentation requirements of the care home

Customer Service

• Develop a positive professional working relationship with facility staff and client family members
• Provide all client services in a timely and professional manner

Minimum Qualifications:

• A diploma/degree in Recreation and Leisure Studies/Therapeutic Recreation or similar
• 1-2 years documented experience working in a long term care setting

Certifications We Value But Are Not Required

• GPA (Gentle Persuasive Approach)
• CPI (Non-Violent Crisis Intervention)
• Montessori
• CPR/First Aid

Additional requirements

• Regular access to email / internet
• Current Vulnerable Sector Police Clearance certificate, TB test, and COVID-19 test
• Covid Vaccination is required
