Overview
Seeking an empathetic and skilled Landscaping Crew Lead. You'll be the heart of our on-site operations, guiding a small team to install and maintain vibrant foodscapes, hardscaping, and basic irrigation systems among other landscaping tasks. If you have 2-3 years of landscaping experience (with leadership a plus), a valid driver's license, and a drive to mentor your crew, deliver exceptional results, and make a tangible difference in creating abundant, beautiful spaces, we invite you to lead with purpose and grow with our passionate team.
Responsibilities
- Leading, inspiring, and managing a landscaping crew on diverse projects, ensuring adherence to design specifications and safety protocols.
- Overseeing the installation of edible gardens, hardscaping elements, irrigation systems, and other landscape features.
- Operating and maintaining a variety of landscaping tools and machinery.
- Conducting on-site training and mentorship for crew members, fostering their skills and confidence.
- Managing project materials, equipment, and timelines efficiently.
- Maintaining clear and professional communication with clients, addressing their needs and ensuring satisfaction.
- Upholding FoodscapeBC's permaculture ethics—Care for Earth, Care for People, and Sharing the Surplus—in all aspects of your work.
- Completing necessary project documentation and record-keeping.
Skills
- Strong knowledge of landscaping practices, plant identification, and hardscape installation techniques.
- Exceptional leadership, communication, and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to read and interpret landscape designs and blueprints.
- Proficiency in operating various landscaping equipment safely and efficiently.
- A genuine passion for sustainable landscaping and the FoodscapeBC mission.
- Physical ability to perform strenuous outdoor work, including lifting heavy objects up to 90lbs.
- Basic carpentry/woodworking skills.
