Job Overview

We are seeking a skilled Auto Body Prep Technician to join our team. In this role, you will be responsible for repairing and restoring vehicles to their pre-accident condition. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in automotive repair, mechanical knowledge, and experience working with both hand and power tools. This position requires attention to detail and a commitment to delivering high-quality work.

Duties

  • Prepares vehicles for paint, by sanding, masking, priming and performing minor repairs.
  • Sanding, blocking, and cleaning damaged or repaired areas to prepare them for paint.
  • Use hand tools and power tools effectively to complete repairs.
  • Masking areas that will not be painted to protect them during the refinished process.
  • Applying primer to the prepared surfaces to create a smooth and durable base for the paint.
  • Apply body filler, making minor repairs to damaged panels, and ensuring the vehicle is ready for painting.
  • Collaborate with other technicians and staff to ensure timely completion of projects.
  • Maintain a clean and organized workspace to promote safety and efficiency.
  • Keep up-to-date with industry trends and advancements in auto prep repair techniques.

Requirements

  • Proven experience in automotive repair, preferably in a dealership setting.
  • Strong mechanical knowledge with the ability to troubleshoot various issues.
  • Ability to perform heavy lifting as required during repairs.
  • Proficiency in using hand tools and power tools safely and effectively.
  • Excellent attention to detail with a focus on quality workmanship.
  • Strong communication skills and the ability to work well in a team environment.
