Metro Contracting is an Excavation and Demolition company based in the lower mainland operating around the Lower Mainland. We are seeking a skilled and reliable Class 1 Dump Truck Driver to join our team. The ideal candidate need to be able to operate a 18 speed manual transmission truck. applicant will be operating tandem end dumps, Truck & pony, and tridem demo trailers, hauling from gravel pits to job sites to landfills and dump sites. The ideal applicant must show up to work on time, in a good attitude and strong work ethic, must be prepared to work overtime as needed.

Responsibilities

  • Operate dump trucks in a safe and efficient manner, adhering to all traffic laws and regulations.
  • Load and unload materials, ensuring proper weight distribution and securing loads for transport.
  • Conduct pre-trip of the vehicle, reporting any maintenance or repair needs.
  • Ensure paperwork, documentation and Daily Report Logs are completed accurately, record delivery information for all materials and loads transported
  • Follow all safety protocols while operating heavy equipment, including wearing appropriate personal protective equipment (PPE) when on-site.
  • Report vehicle and equipment maintenance and repair in a timely manner
  • Perform small minor emergency or preventative maintenance repairs as needed
  • Ensure tidiness and clean truck daily
  • Communicate clearly and respectfully with Co-Workers, Management and site contacts to obtain instructions, and load ticket sign off.
  • Must be able to judge where truck can or can't go, and find safe placed to dump
  • Must clean off the truck after loading, properly tarp loads, and securely chain/strap down and shovel inside dump box as required

Experience

  • Proven experience in commercial driving, particularly with dump trucks or similar heavy vehicles.
  • 3+ years experience preferred
  • Basic knowledge of automotive repair is preferred to assist with vehicle maintenance.
  • Strong communication skills and the ability to work well within a team environment are essential for success in this role.

Qualifications

  • Valid class 1 BC drivers license
