Position Overview:

Join the Finning Canada family, part of the world's largest Caterpillar dealer. We are currently looking for dedicated Welders who will be responsible for a variety of welding related duties in a service orientated environment. This position is based in the Fort McMurray Oil Sands region at the Fort McKay Shop.

This position will work a 14x14, 12-hour continuous shift rotation. If you are a safety conscious team player, self-motivated, autonomous, detail-oriented and possess your Journeyperson Welder certification then you are exactly who we are looking for

Job Description:

Major Job Functions:

  • Ensure jobs are planned, organized and all required parts and tooling are accessible
  • Minimize downtime and maintain production requirements as scheduled
  • Examine and diagnose machine defects, repair damage and cracks when necessary
  • Operate manual or semi-automatic welding equipment
  • Maintain safe work practices
  • Assist in training, directing and development of team members on the job
  • Other work assigned as required

Qualifications & Experience:

  • Journeyperson Welder Technician Certification
  • Certified in Gas Metal Arc Welding (GMAW) and Shielded Metal Arc Welding (SMAW)
  • CWB tickets will be considered an asset
  • Individual will be highly flexible, with solid interpersonal skills that allow one to work effectively in a diverse working environment
  • Ability to work well under pressure
  • Effectively communicate both verbally and in writing will be necessary for successful candidacy
  • Line boring experience will be considered an asset
  • Previous field experience will be considered an asset

Notes:

  • This position is located at our Fort McKay branch on a 14x14 continuous shift (camp provided)
  • Any future shift changes will be made in accordance with the collective agreement.
  • Candidate selection will be in compliance with the terms of the current Collective Agreement
