Maintenance Supervisor

Position Summary:

We are seeking a proactive and experienced Maintenance Supervisor to lead our maintenance operations in a unionized cable manufacturing environment. This role is responsible for overseeing the maintenance of critical production equipment including draw benches and furnaces, driving process improvements, and ensuring the implementation of a robust preventative maintenance program.

Key Responsibilities:

• Lead and manage a team of skilled Millwrights/Electricians in a unionized setting.
• Foster a culture of safety, accountability, and continuous improvement.
• Collaborate with union representatives to ensure compliance with collective agreements.
• Oversee maintenance and repair of manufacturing equipment including draw benches, furnaces, and other cable production machinery.
• Ensure minimal downtime and optimal equipment performance.
• Develop, implement, and monitor a comprehensive preventative maintenance program.
• Schedule routine inspections and servicing to extend equipment life and reduce unexpected failures.
• Identify and implement opportunities for process optimization and cost reduction.
• Utilize root cause analysis and lean methodologies to improve maintenance efficiency.
• Ensure all maintenance activities comply with health and safety regulations.
• Maintain accurate records of maintenance work, inspections, and safety checks.
• Manage maintenance budgets, including labor, parts, and equipment.
• Schedule and manage all maintenance shutdown and outside contractor activities.
• Manage Maintenance and Electrician call in schedules.
• Coordination with Production Manager to prioritize maintenance work to minimize disruption to production.
• Assist with providing Supervisor coverage when needed ( vacations etc)
• Oversee inventory of spare parts and maintenance supplies.

Qualifications:

• Proven experience as a Maintenance Manager in a manufacturing or industrial setting.
• Strong knowledge of mechanical and electrical systems.
• Experience working in a unionized environment with a solid understanding of labor relations.
• Demonstrated success in implementing preventative maintenance and process improvement initiatives.
• Understanding of PLC an asset.
• Excellent leadership, communication, and organizational skills.

Preferred Education & Experience:

• Diploma or degree in Mechanical/Electrical Engineering or related field e.g Millwright.
• 5+ years of maintenance leadership experience in a manufacturing environment.
