Description

Some of what you will do: 

The Senior HRBP is a strategic business partner who is responsible for developing and implementing Human Resources strategies and programs that align with and support Staples as The Working and Learning Company, contribute to the HR agenda and objectives, and support the strategic and operational plans. In this temporary contract role, the Senior HRBP will partner closely with the Centres of Expertise (COEs) and HR services, and act as a dynamic, inspired partner to business leaders to identify and execute processes and initiatives for their assigned departments. They will support management and non-management associates in the areas of engagement, communication, relationship management, etc.  

Specifically, You Will: 

Associate Relations -

  •  Partner with all leader levels within their assigned client groups on all people related strategies and actions. 
  • Provide coaching and consulting to the business on associate relations issues including performance management, conduct, policies, attendance management and investigations, partnering with the Sr. Manager, HRBP as required on more complex issues and terminations. Act as a thought partner, challenging thinking and modeling creative problem-solving impact business decisions.  
  • Support the deployment of the Associate Engagement survey. Analyze, trend and share findings with leaders within their departments, and partner on the creation and communication of the AES action plan. Facilitate engagement focus groups as required. Partner with the business to develop and implement initiatives to enhance engagement. Make recommendations for improvements to the overall process and communication of the AES and partner with OD to enhance the overall impact of the program. 

Talent Management -

  • Facilitate talent reviews and succession plans for assigned departments, ensuring necessary action is taken to develop successors.  
  • Talent Acquisition through partnership with Talent Acquisition, ensure recruitment and on-boarding needs of new hires are met for assigned client groups, relay information to TA regarding current and future needs. Participate in the interviewing process as required.  
  • Partner with the Learning and Development team to ensure training strategies and material to meet the needs of client groups. Facilitate training and development programs as required.  
  • Partner with the Sr. Manager, Learning and Organizational Development and the business to ensure programs meet the needs of the high potential/high performing population. 

Additionally -

  • Partner with leaders to effectively manage and lead change in the organization, providing the right amount of transparency and giving leaders the right tools to lead change. 
  • Participate in and lead various departmental and cross-functional projects and programs.  

Some of what you need: 

  • Post-Secondary degree in a related field is preferred  
  • Post graduate degree in Human Resources is required or equivalent experience is an asset  
  • Professional HR designation is an asset 
  • 5-7 years of progressive experience in Human Resources. 
  • Experience in retail or a multi-location business delivering HR services and solutions. 
  • Proven capability to keep abreast of market business and HR trends and how to translate to Staples. 
  • Strong HR Generalist skill set particularly in the areas of employee relations, talent management, engagement, recruitment, compensation, training and development. 
  • Strong understanding of Employment Standards, Human Rights, Occupational Health & Safety and applicable Disability and WSIB/WBC/CSST Legislation, and relevant common law.
