This position will focus on the procurement of parts, supplies, and services used in vehicle reconditioning, ensuring that purchasing processes are optimized and automated to support operational excellence.The Procurement Business Lead will bring deep functional expertise to design and streamline procurement workflows, drive process automation, and collaborate with cross-functional teams to deliver a best-in-class solution. This is an exciting opportunity to influence a major modernization initiative and shape the future of CarMax's supply chain operations.
  • Work effectively with leaders, suppliers, and cross functional teams to develop, implement, and execute category programs within Oracle Supply Chain Management modules and continually improve programs to successfully accomplish goals or objectives
  • Direct strategic suppliers to meet CarMax's program goals and objectives
  • Collaborate with category leadership to conduct needs analysis and recommend purchasing strategies to address pressing business challenges and design effective purchasing processes including: providing detailed functional business requirements and product knowledge, providing guidance and input on critical design decisions
  • Create and execute subcategory strategies to drive improvements to purchasing operations and execution including the creation production operation procedures and providing aid in training, deployment planning, and execution of programs
  • Support category leaders in managing existing programs including supplier relationship management, contract negotiations, sourcing support, and frequent review of overall supplier performance with insights based on changing business systems
  • Act as main point of contact for supplier issue resolution and continual program development for the procurement functions within Oracle Supply Chain Management.  This includes developing test scenarios and cases, managing the resources, scope, timeline, quality, and risk for specific Procurement process areas.
  • Keep current on category trends, best practices and program development
  • Analyze data, perform research and conduct observations to develop programs
  • Maintain a deep knowledge of the category managed, procurement practices and sourcing strategies
  • Champion the needs of business teams and stakeholders throughout the development process; ensure what is delivered meets the original goals and/or KPMs
  • Take a hands-on role in project management for all category programs and initiatives to ensure that programs and/or process improvements meet or exceed the needs of the business
  • Bring innovative approaches and leading-edge sourcing and procurement practices to inform thinking on category strategies
Work Location and Arrangement: This role will be based out of the CarMax Home Office in Richmond, VAWork Authorization: Applicants must be currently authorized to work in the United States on a full-time basis. Sponsorship will not be considered for this specific role.Demonstrate a high degree of planning, organization and self-management to consistently meet agreed upon deliverablesQUALIFICATIONS AND REQUIREMENTS
  • 5+ years of experience in program or project management required, preferably in strategic sourcing or procurement
  • 5+ years of procurement/buying and supplier management experience required with specific experience in automotive parts preferred
  • Oracle Supply Chain experience preferred
  • Excellent project management and organization skills, with exceptional attention to detail
  • Ability to work both independently and collaboratively, while driving execution in a rapidly changing environment
  • Strong verbal and written communication, facilitation and presentation skills;
  • Ability to handle sensitive associate and business information with utmost confidentiality
  • Ability to partner and work strategically with cross-functional teams to drive overall solutions, while appropriately managing issues and risks and large-scale change management
  • Ability to build and maintain positive and influential working relationships across all levels within the organization
  • Bachelors degree, preferred
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Word, PowerPoint, Excel, and purchasing systems, Oracle and Coupa preferred
