Job Highlights
  • Maintain all required documentation such as P&ID's, SOP's and ensure operator training remains current. Develop plans for increased and improved automation.
  • Analyze plant processes for improvement, automation and digitilazation or expansion opportunities.
  • Troubleshoots process safety, capacity, efficiency and operability issues. Determines the nature of the issue and contributes to finding possible solutions.
  • Serve as a primary technical contact on the process and interacts with external and/or internal experts on significant technical matters.
  • Investigate/resolve off spec production and customer complaints.
  • Conduct Process Hazard Analysis, safety reviews. Investigate and implement safety improvements and recommendations.
  • Lead incident investigation teams related to process safety incidents.
  • Provide support to manufacturing facility for plant troubleshooting by working with production when necessary for plant troubleshooting, start-ups, shutdowns and plant turnarounds.
  • Plan/Evaluate/Execute/Record management of change process.
  • Lead yield improvement projects and other cost improvement, cycle time, automation projects and quality improvments in their area.
  • Provide process engineering support for capital projects, works with project engineering in devlopment and execution of capital projects. May lead projects depending on size and scope.
  • Understand, deploy and improve engineering standards consistent with LANXESS's policies and programs.
Experience / Skills
  • Bachelor's degree in Chemical Engineering with a P.Eng. designation is a must.
  • Ideal candidate will have 3 to 5 years of process engineering experience in a manufacturing environment.
  • Knowledgeable in using the SAP PM Application (or similar)
  • Time and project management experience, with a high level of accuracy and attention to detail.
  • Strong troubleshooting and problem solving skills.
  • Must have good interpersonal and leadership skills with the ability to interact at all organizational levels.

The Elmira facility is a state of the art production facility used to manufacture synthetic lubricants and additives for lubricants, plastics and rubber. In addition to the main production facilities we have a comprehensive wastewater treatment system that is used to treat all of the process wastewater that is generated on site, and a groundwater treatment system to remove historic contaminants prior to discharge. The Elmira site is also home to a pilot plant, which is used by our scientists and engineers to develop and test new products and production processes.

Situated on 75 acres (of which 22 acres are used for operations), the manufacturing facility operates 24 hours a day, seven days a week. Our hourly employees are represented by the United Steelworkers Union.

Actual compensation will be based on the candidate's qualifications and experience.
