We have an exciting opportunity for a
Project Manager/Design Manager
specializing in Wastewater Engineering to support our
Calgary
team. This dual role combines project management expertise with technical design leadership, providing a unique opportunity to drive both project execution and engineering excellence.

As a
Wastewater
Project Manager/Design Manager
, you'll lead multidisciplinary teams, oversee project delivery, and ensure technical accuracy and innovation in design. You'll champion high-quality projects that meet or exceed client expectations while delivering planned profits. Your role will be crucial in maintaining our strong safety culture and driving sustainable design practices.

Key Responsibilities
Project Management

  • Develop and manage comprehensive project execution plans
  • Oversee project financials, including budgeting, cost control, and timely invoicing
  • Negotiate and manage sub-agreements and contracts
  • Monitor and report on project performance and risk management
  • Maintain client relationships and support business development initiatives

Design Management

  • Lead and coordinate multidisciplinary design teams to ensure high-quality results within budget and on schedule
  • Ensure technical accuracy, design coherence, and innovation in wastewater projects, while ensuring compliance with client needs and project goals
  • Provide technical guidance and ensure quality assurance procedures for project deliverables
  • Apply engineering knowledge to solve complex design challenges while minimizing risk and ensuring designs meet all required standards and regulations
  • Foster sustainable and cutting-edge design practices

Leadership

  • Mentor and develop team members, fostering a collaborative and innovative environment
  • Contribute to strategic growth and delivery strategies within the geography
  • Champion safety policies and our culture of caring
  • Collaborate with Business Development and Client Service Managers to expand opportunities

Here's what you'll need

  • Bachelor's degree or higher in Chemical, Civil, Environmental or Mechanical Engineering
  • P. Eng designation
  • Minimum 7 years of experience in engineering design and project management of municipal projects
  • Proven track record in managing technical, contractual, and financial aspects of wastewater projects
  • Extensive experience in preliminary design, detailed design, and contract administration
  • Strong technical competencies in wastewater treatment processes and infrastructure design
  • Proficiency in relevant design software and modeling tools
  • Experience with sales, business development, and proposal writing
  • Familiarity with project delivery in Western Canada is an asset
  • Formal PM training aligned with PMI requirements is preferred
  • Excellent leadership, communication, and problem-solving skills
  • Ability to balance project management duties with hands-on design leadership
  • Demonstrated success in mentoring junior staff and fostering team growth
