Some of the key abilities and traits our technicians should possess as part of our team is, but not limited to:
Technical competence and experience in one or more of: commercial alarm, access control, and CCTV.
· Understanding of simple electronics – you should be able to design and build a simple circuit from a combination of parts such as relays, timers, strobe light and power supply.
· Hardware, and software installation, system maintenance and end user training, configuration of networks and hardware, remote service and maintenance on mission critical systems. The ability to configure, diagnose and troubleshoot a wide variety of network switches and equipment.
· The ability and motivation to self-learn – we integrate ANYTHING. You need to be competent at seeking out knowledge from online sources, printed journals and your experience to determine strategies to success.
· Competence in the use of software. Our software packages include: Microsoft Outlook, Excel, Visio, Project, Autocad LT, Filemaker Pro, and a host of manufacturer provided software tools. You don`t need to be a pro on any of them, but you should be able to competently and quickly learn your way around software applications.
· Confidence on a wide variety of job sites: you should be as confident in a hard hat, steel toes and fall harness as you are in more formal attire while attending or conducting a training seminar.
· Professional communication skills, appearance and demeanor – clients should be reassured by your level of calm, quiet confidence and knowledge. We are professionals and must look the part.
Conditions of Employment:
· TQ designation / license required for the Province of British Columbia.
· Able to pass multiple security background checks – locally, provincially and federally
· Able to pass pre-employment and yearly drug/alcohol testing
· Travel, sometimes with short notice, as we work on diverse sites, from ocean side to deep mining, corporate buildings to casinos. This position is excellent for those who enjoy traveling for work
