You'll play a key role in shaping project costs, schedules, and execution from planning through construction.

What You'll Do

  • Build
    accurate, detailed cost estimates
    using engineering drawings, specifications, and contract requirements.
  • Develop
    quantity takeoffs
    and calculate labour, material, and equipment costs using proven unit rates or first-principles estimating.
  • Analyze construction methods to identify
    cost savings, schedule efficiencies, and risk mitigation strategies
    .
  • Incorporate risk allowances and apply established markups to ensure full cost recovery.
  • Create and maintain
    construction schedules
    , tracking progress and forecasting cost and schedule impacts.
  • Prepare bid packages, schedules of pay items, and subcontract tender documents; evaluate and compare contractor submissions.
  • Review cost and progress reports, identify variances, and recommend corrective actions to keep projects on track.
  • Source pricing and technical data from suppliers and support procurement of materials, equipment, and subcontracted work.
  • Provide
    technical guidance and coordination
    to field crews and project stakeholders.
  • Collaborate as a core member of multidisciplinary project teams delivering generation, substation, and transmission & distribution work.

What You Bring

  • A Diploma of Technology or Degree in a construction-related field (Engineering, Construction Management, Project Management, Quantity Surveying, Business Administration, Forestry, or Architecture),
    or
    a related trade qualification (e.g., Electrician, Power Line Technician, Millwright).
  • 5+ years of experience
    in construction, estimating, or project management.
  • Strong expertise in
    Civil, Mechanical, or Electrical
    construction, with working knowledge of at least one additional discipline.
  • Solid understanding of construction standards, codes, and best practices.
  • Hands-on knowledge of
    generation, substation, and transmission & distribution
    facilities.
  • Proven skills in construction estimating, scheduling, and cost control.
  • Working knowledge of project management and financial principles.
  • Proficiency with estimating, scheduling, costing, and project management software.
  • Strong analytical, communication, and negotiation skills.
  • Ability to work collaboratively with field crews, engineers, contractors, and suppliers.
  • Valid
    Class 5 driver's licence
    .
