Unionville College was established in 1987 and is a co-educational, non-denominational private school. We have a great opportunity for a skilled and knowledgeable Dance Teacher to join our faculty in September 2023. The Dance Teacher will contribute to the after school extracurricular program, school plays, and other dance performances.

This is a part-time contract position throughout the school year. The Dance Teacher will be required to work approximately 4 hours per week between from 3:30pm - 6:00pm.

This position offers a unique opportunity to work with students in the Sr Casa and Elementary grades, showcasing your dance expertise and inspiring young performers. This position is ideal for someone who has experience teaching dance

The Dance Instructor will be responsible for teaching classes, camps, and private lessons. The instructor will be responsible for assisting with curriculum development and providing professional instruction to students. The instructor will work with a team of instructors to ensure that all instructors are fully trained and certified. This position is ideal for someone who has experience teaching dance classes, in a private or public school setting.

Duties and Responsibilities:

Provide instruction to students in a variety of dance styles including hip-hop & K-pop

  • Choreograph and teach dance routines to students for class plays and performances.
  • Collaborate with classroom teachers and our music department to ensure seamless integration of dance routines within the overall production.
  • Conduct rehearsals and provide constructive feedback to students, helping them improve their dance technique and performance skills.
  • Assist in costume selection and make recommendations on suitable attire for dance performances.
  • Attend dress rehearsals and performances to provide guidance and support to students during their live shows.
  • Create a positive and inclusive learning environment, fostering creativity, teamwork, and self-expression.
  • Maintain open and effective communication with students, parents, and school staff regarding dance-related matters.

Skills and Experience:

  • Dance experience in various styles such as hip hop, ballet, tap, jazz, modern and rhythmic gymnastics.
  • Proven teaching experience in dance preferably with Sr Casa and elementary aged children.
  • Strong choreography skills and the ability to adapt routines to suit different skill levels.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to work effectively with students, parents and staff members.
  • Flexible schedule to accommodate rehearsals and performances.
  • Ability to motivate and inspire students, nurturing their passion for dance and encouraging their artistic growth.
  • Patience, enthusiasm, and a genuine love for working with young dancers.
  • Possession of any relevant certificates or qualifications in dance instruction preferred
  • A Police Vulnerable Sector Check (PVSC) is mandatory.
