Assistant Director of Harvest Operations
As the Assistant Director of Harvest Operations, you will play a key role in managing and aligning the harvest operations of our primary raw material—peat moss—across Canada. You will support the implementation of strategic directions, the standardization of methods, and the continuous improvement of processes, working closely with field teams and internal leadership groups. This position is ideal for an experienced operations leader who is driven by innovation, strategic planning, and who enjoys being hands-on and close to their teams.
RESPONSIBILITIES :
Support the Director of Harvest Operations in defining priorities, coordinating the annual harvest cycle, and standardizing methods, procedures, and tools across all Canadian sites;
Support the application of the quality management system, monitor performance indicators, and contribute to the optimization of resources and processes;
Participate in strategic planning, peatland development (PDR), site openings, and represent the harvest sector on various cross-functional project committees;
Contribute to technology monitoring, the development of innovative solutions, and the continuous improvement of harvest practices;
Support field teams in the application of harvest methodologies and ensure the transfer of technical knowledge;
Promote company values, maintain a strong health and safety culture, and support change management initiatives.
QUALIFICATIONS :
Degree in industrial engineering, operations management, forestry, agronomy, or a related field;
8 to 10 years of experience in industrial operations management, ideally in a seasonal, agricultural, or similar environment;
Ability to operate machinery and work tools – manual work required;
Knowledge of harvest operations, site opening, restoration, and land maintenance (asset);
Collaborative leadership style and ability to work with teams across multiple sites;
Strong ability to manage priorities and organize work effectively;
Strategic mindset with strong planning skills;
Bilingual in French and English (spoken and written);
Proficiency in Windows and Microsoft Office.
