Community Support Workers assist in supporting individual's well-being that aligns with their vision and goals and promote quality of life. The quality-of-life framework is represented by eight domains: personal development - self -determination - relationships with people - social inclusion - rights - physical well-being - emotional well-being.

Community Outreach Workers typically work with individuals who are supported in a community-based role.

Duties and Responsibilities

· Collaborating with other agencies and professionals within the community

· Provide transportation to social outings, doctor's visits, or grocery stores

· Working closely with family members and friends of individuals to create an extensive support network

· Supporting individuals to gain new skills and independence

· Build rapport to gather information to provide ongoing support

· Researching and reviewing resources in the community to improve quality of life

· Support individuals to set and work towards achieving goals

· Supporting individuals to access to services, including temporary housing, medical care, and legal aid

· Referring individuals to agencies that can provide additional services they may require

· Supporting individuals toward developing life management skills

· Monitoring and reporting on the individual's progress

· Maintain written documentation regarding activities and progress

· Ensure required documentation is accurate and complete

· Complete other related duties as required

Required Supporting Documentation and Training

  • Criminal Record Check (CRRP Criminal Records Review Program)
  • Valid BC Drivers License
  • Tuberculosis (TB) Test Results
  • Business Vehicle Insurance ($ 3,000,000 liability)
  • Drivers Abstract
  • First Aid Certificate
  • Community Support Worker or similar certification OR adequate experience working with a diverse range of individuals within a supportive role

Job Types: Full-time, Part-time, Permanent, Casual

Pay: $25.00-$29.00 per hour

Expected hours: 10 – 40 per week
