Role (Overview of the Position)

We are looking for a Controller who will play a critical role in shaping the financial health and strategic performance of our firm. This is a chance to step into a leadership position that goes beyond financial reporting, one that enables you to contribute meaningfully to the success of our clients, our people, and our firm as a whole. This role is based out of our downtown Peterborough, Ontario office location, reporting to the Chief Executive Officer.

Responsibilities (Tasks Associated with the Role)

• Lead the preparation and analysis of monthly financial statements and performance reports.
• Oversee budgeting, forecasting, and capacity planning to ensure sustainable growth.
• Provide departmental profitability analysis and support leaders in meeting monthly financial and operational targets.
• Manage all core financial operations, including bookkeeping, AP/AR, payroll, and cash flow.
• Ensure compliance with ASPE, tax, and regulatory requirements; oversee internal controls and audits.
• Partner with leadership to deliver insights that shape strategy and drive accountability and financial results across the firm.
• Continuously improve financial systems and processes to support a high-growth, client-centered business.

• Accurate, timely, and insightful financial reporting that drives decision-making.
• Department leaders empowered with financial data to achieve and exceed targets.
• Strong cash flow management that supports growth and stability.
• Streamlined, scalable financial operations that reduce risk and increase efficiency.

Professional Experience Required

• CPA designation and a proven track record of excellence in finance and accounting, with experience in a previous controller role with a multi 8 figure organization.
• 5+ years of progressive experience, ideally in public accounting or professional services.
• Expertise in departmental profitability, resource planning, and financial modeling.
• Strong grasp of internal controls, compliance, and risk management.
• Advanced proficiency with QuickBooks and various analytics tools.
• Strategic thinking combined with hands-on operational ability.
• A collaborative, accountable mindset aligned with our core values of excellence, growth, and impact.
• Experience with and willingness and ability to hold people accountable to their goals
