Saskatoon, Saskatchewan, Canada University of Saskatchewan Full time
Tenure Track Position in Theological Ethics (McDougald Professor of Theological Ethics)

St. Andrew's College, Saskatoon (SAC) invites applications and nominations for the McDougald Professor of Theological Ethics. SAC is a theological college of The United Church of Canada (UCC) in ecumenical cooperation with the other member colleges of the Saskatoon Theological Union (STU)—the College of Emmanuel & St. Chad (Anglican Church of Canada) and Lutheran Theological Seminary Saskatoon (Evangelical Lutheran Church in Canada)—in delivering a shared curriculum. The appointment, therefore, is to the Common Faculty of the Saskatoon Theological Union at the University of Saskatchewan.

The successful candidate will hold a terminal degree (PhD or ThD) by the time of appointment in the autumn semester of 2026. Whereas SAC does not distinguish faculty by rank, it is expected that the successful candidate will possess expertise in a branch of theological ethics or moral theology and pursue research in these disciplines and/or a cognate area commensurate with the standards and practices of a research-intensive Canadian University.

The person selected for this position will develop and teach (in online, in-person, and blended modalities) courses for the programs of the STU—MDiv, MTS, DMin—and collaborate in teaching courses specific to the denominational interests of the UCC (UCC history, theology, and polity) within the MDiv and MTS programs. Thesis/project supervision, academic advising, participation in the College's certificate programs and the formation of students for ministry (lay and ordained), and contributions to college governance and administration are components of faculty life at SAC.

Members of the STU Common Faculty serve, by rotation, in administrative positions of the STU Common Faculty.

By mutual selection, faculty may hold cross-appointment in the Religion and Culture Department of St. Thomas More College (at the University of Saskatchewan) or in another department of the University.

Applications for this position should include a letter of interest, a curriculum vitae, a writing sample, and the names and contact information of three people who can serve as confidential references. Candidates should apply by electronic communication to Please direct questions to Dr. Bernon Lee, acting chair of the search committee, at the same address. The deadline for the receipt of applications is February 2, 2026.

A full description of the position is available at

All qualified candidates are encouraged to apply; however, in accordance with Canadian immigration requirements, Canadian citizens and permanent residents will be given priority.

St. Andrew's College is an Affirming Ministry of The United Church of Canada and warmly welcomes to our community persons of all sexual orientations and gender identities. On the commitments, practices, and frameworks of the college in the execution of its mission, see
