Job description

We are seeking an experienced and motivated Landscape Technician to join our team and contribute to the enhancement of outdoor spaces. The ideal candidate will possess a strong understanding of horticulture, plant care, and landscape maintenance practices. This position involves a combination of hands-on work, technical expertise, and a passion for creating visually appealing and sustainable landscapes.

Responsibilities:

Driver:

  • Class 5 licence and experience or willingness to learn to drive a truck and trailer.
  • Drive the crew to landscaping locations - this will include driving to multiple locations in a day for maintenance, or to one-site, or driving to suppliers to pick-up materials or dispose of green waste.
  • Recording daily mileage logs and filling the vehicle with gas, maintaining receipts.

Plant Installation and Maintenance:

  • Install, and maintain a variety of plants, trees, and shrubs.
  • Apply organic soil and mulch to gardens
  • Implement fertilization, and pest control measures.
  • Monitor plant health and address issues promptly.

Lawn Care:

  • Perform lawn maintenance tasks, including mowing, edging, and fertilizing.
  • Identify and address lawn diseases or pests.

Hardscape Installation:

  • Assist in the installation of hardscape features such as pathways, retaining walls, fences and outdoor structures.
  • Ensure proper placement and alignment of hardscape elements.
  • Ensure proper property is cleaned-up at the end of every day.

Safety and Compliance:

  • Adhere to safety protocols and guidelines during all landscaping activities.
  • Ensure the safe use of equipment and personal protection.

Client Interaction:

  • Communicate effectively with clients to understand their landscaping preferences and address any concerns.

Qualifications:

  • Class 5 License
  • 1-2 years experience as a Landscape Technician or similar role is an asset
  • Knowledge of plant species, horticulture practices, and landscape design principles.
  • Proficient in operating landscape equipment and tools.
  • Strong physical stamina and the ability to work outdoors in various weather conditions.
  • Attention to detail and a commitment to delivering high-quality results.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.

Education and Certification:

  • High school diploma or equivalent (relevant certifications or coursework in horticulture is a plus).
