Position Summary **

The Quality Assurance (QA) Coordinator works independently and coordinates essential Quality Assurance and maintenance functions. They will conduct compliance checks of paperwork to ensure they meet current Good Manufacturing Practices (GMPs), HACCP, SQF, Kosher, Organic and/or any other certifications as directed by management. Working with the maintenance teams, the specialist will ensure all preventive maintenance is completed in accordance with the requirements for the certifications.

Reporting Relationships

The QA Coordinator reports to the QA Manager and QA Supervisor for Food4Change and interacts with other members of the leadership team and staff as required to carry out duties.

  • This position provides regular and ongoing coaching, training and support to all of the QA Technicians.

Key Responsibilities

Duties as described, include but are not limited to the following:

  • Oversee and ensure compliance with all local, provincial, federal and international requirements;
  • Oversee the Preventative Maintenance of all equipment and confirm being completed timely;
  • Providing ongoing training and coaching to all staff, visitors and contractors as required;
  • Ensure the correct version of QA documentation/revisions are correct and up to date at all times.
  • Implement corrective actions when documented procedures have not been followed.
  • Aid in conducting material reviews. Pull damaged or non-conforming product off the line;
  • Retain maintenance and quality assurance records in accordance with the documented retention procedure;
  • Conduct periodic Good Manufacturing Practices audits of entire plant with documented corrective actions;
  • Conduct paperwork review to ensure compliance to standards set forth by Food4Change;
  • Have the authority to approve or reject raw materials, Packing materials, labelling and finished products based upon conforming to established specifications;.
  • Record test data, enter data into the computer and generate any reports as needed.
  • Incorporate and/or develop new procedures as needed/requested and approved by QA Director;
  • Openly communicates with co-workers and ensuring all hazards regarding food safety is addressed and communicated for prevention;
  • Adhere to the GMP, SQF and HACCP written programs;
  • Assume additional responsibilities as assigned.

Knowledge and Skills

  • BSc. or equivalent; Food Sciences Diploma; are an asset,
  • HACCP/SQF/BRC knowledge are an asset,;
  • Minimum 1 year experience in similar QA position;
  • Fluency in the English language (both orally and in writing, reading).
  • Previous experience in a food or supplement manufacturing facility is an asset.
  • Proficient in MS Word, Excel and powerpoint, google docs and google slides

Working Conditions

  • May require overtime on occasion
  • Requires physical fitness and mobility in the plant environment
  • Ability to lift up to 30 pounds
  • A tolerance for hot temperatures

Shift Time: 3:30 pm- 12:00 am (Monday to Friday)

Job Types: Full-time, Permanent

Pay: $65,000.00-$70,000.00 per year
