Coordinator, End of Life
to support compassionate, patient‑centred care. This position, expected to continue until approximately October 4, 2027 (or the return of the incumbent), plays a key role in coordinating high‑quality Medical Assistance in Dying (MAiD) services.
We are looking for a highly organized, detail‑oriented, and empathetic professional to act as the central point of contact for referrals, communication, and coordination—ensuring patients, families, and care teams experience a respectful and seamless MAiD process.

Salary range for the position is $88,990 to $127,923. Interior Health establishes salaries within the minimum and maximum of the salary range based on consideration of the qualifications, experience of the applicant, and an internal equity review of the salaries of other employees.
How Will You Create An Impact
The Coordinator, End of Life (EOL) will promote quality in the coordination and provision of Medical Assistance in Dying (MAiD) and other EOL related services throughout the Health Authority by engaging, collaborating with, and providing leadership to direct care staff and administration throughout Interior Health (IH).
The Coordinator will work with leaders from across IH and key external partners to facilitate ongoing collaboration and effective application of initiatives that support services including MAiD delivery across the care continuum. Key partners include, but are not limited to, internal and external partners such as peer Health Authorities, physician providers, community partners, and representatives of the Patient Voices Network.
The Coordinator will develop a sustainable process for securing operational supports (staff, facility admission where requested, pharmaceuticals, equipment, etc.) required to support MAiD.
The Coordinator will utilize LEAN methodology to collaborate in the development of standard work related to ongoing EOL and MAiD service provision within IH. The Coordinator will collaborate in the development of standardized quality and risk management tools to ensure that services are delivered with the highest standard of care for the individual and his/her family. The Coordinator will ensure that the service is operated within existing constraints such as scope of service and legislated timeframes and will mitigate costs, while measuring quality and minimizing risk to the Health Authority.
What Will You Work On
- Coordinating with the physician leads to support effective and patient-centred communication and care.
- Participating in meetings with key leaders/partners to discuss the individual needs of clients seeking service and arranging the required support/services in IH facilities or community-based programs within the catchment area.
- Acting as a liaison and resource for the Health Authority in promoting service delivery, planning, and service improvement.
- Collaborating with appropriate clinical practitioners to develop quality, ethical clinical pathways.
- Coordinating the provision of direct clinical supports, pharmaceuticals, equipment, and supplies required for the delivery of MAiD.
- Ensuring that practitioners including, but not limited to, Registered Nursing staff are cognizant of the most recent legislation, regulations, standards of practice, and Health Authority policies related to the provision of MAiD services.
- Collaborating with MAiD assessors and prescribers to assist in the coordination of facility admission or community supports for the provision of MAiD services and addressing clinical issues or concerns related to MAiD in an expeditious manner.
- Developing, monitoring, and auditing processes to measure the quality of care of MAiD services. This may include, but is not limited to, post-provision de-briefs and other metrics to identify opportunities and make recommendations for the ongoing quality improvement of MAiD.
- Providing leadership to and supporting the development of strategies to meet patient/ family needs and expectations, while ensuring compliance with the legislative requirements of MAiD.
- Serving as the central contact/resource person related to the MAiD project and identifying and resolving issues, as required, in a timely manner through negotiation and conflict resolution with partners.
- Collaborating with the team to prepare regular project summaries/updates and identifying any key factors that account for deviation from the stated goals for the MAiD Steering Committee, project sponsors, or others as requested by the MAiD Steering Committee.
- Developing and fostering relationships in order to create comprehensive care networks, processes, and structures with input from key partners.
- Liaising with external partners to support and/or identify opportunities for system redesign or care and/or service improvements. This may include partnerships with other Health Authorities, physician groups, provincial entities, community agencies, and private partners.
- Executing and monitoring all milestones, deliverables, approvals, and sign-offs for the service.
- In alignment with IH's Occupational Health & Safety Program, employees shall adhere to all Occupational Health and Safety policies and procedures at all times and attend all required training. Employees are responsible to report any identified hazards, unsafe conditions or incidents to the manager or supervisor immediately.
