ROLE PURPOSEThis position will perform cleaning related tasks necessary to ensure that resident's rooms are safe, clean and that common areas are as attractive and clean as possible. Perform a variety of duties in relation to the preparation and distribution of meals and the cleaning of dining room areas to the required standard.STATUSNon-unionized. This position is open to applicants of all genders. Ensures that purchases are within approved budget limits. Maintains an inventory of food and other related items.Check and collect laundry from residentsCollect garbageMove furniture as required to cleanTransport and move supplies and equipmentAssist in the dining room and laundry room as requiredUtilize cleaning supplies and products in accordance with established proceduresResponsible for bringing up supplies from storerooms – making sure carts and supply areas are stockedEnsure cleaning equipment and supplies are stored in a safe and efficient mannerReport any situations that may be considered unsafe or a health riskInteract with residents in a manner that respects their individual rights and dignity, ensuring privacy and confidentiality are maintained at all timesAttend staff in-service and continuing education programs, and approved work-related conferences and seminarsPerform other related duties as requiredWORKING CONDITIONSFunctions independently, while remaining a crucial member of the care teamCarry out significant amounts of lifting, bending, stooping and stretchingWork within a social model approachHandle confidential / sensitive material with integrity and discretionAdheres to Connective policies and proceduresIs available to work flexible hours as needed, which may include some evenings/weekends, as determined by program/client needs and schedulesEXPERIENCE AND SKILLSMinimum grade 10 educationFood Safe Level 1 One (1) month recent related experienceExperience in the areas of Community Living and Licensed Care is preferredGood written and verbal communication skills in EnglishKnowledge of relevant healthcare laws and regulationsAbility to handle confidential and sensitive information with discretionREQUIREMENTSAbility to successfully complete a Criminal Records CheckAbility to successfully complete reference checkAbility to provide a record of work historyCurrent Emergency First Aid Certificate (please refer to the Certificates accepted in B.C. - WorkSafeBC)Proof of vaccination for communicable diseases may be required as mandated by Government, Health Authority, and/or funder requirementsPHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS The physical requirements outlined below are non-specific to the position, as such, there may be additional tasks required.
