We are looking for a case worker to join our team
Position Details
This is a term position effective immediately for a 12-month duration, with the possibility of extension. Reporting to the Manager of the Housing Help Centre, this position provides assistance and support to vulnerable clients with the goal of preventing eviction and housing loss by:
- Exchanging information with other agencies when required (ODSP, OW, NRH etc.)
- Preparing and generating regular reports
- Engaging with landlords and supporting clients with tenant rights and responsibilities
- Maintaining paper and digital case records; performing data entry; entering notes into client files
- Attending internal and external committee meetings
- Receiving and responding to emails and telephone calls
- Supporting trusteeship clients with budgeting and financial literacy education
- Liaising with accounting, internal and external caseworkers and partner agencies
Key Qualifications:
- Knowledge of social services and social assistance system
- Knowledge of the housing sector
- Active listening, coaching, negotiation/mediation, problem-solving and time management skills
- Ability to collaborate with social assistance providers and community partners
- Ability to communicate effectively with vulnerable individuals, often with limited literacy
- Ability to demonstrate flexibility, compassion and understanding
- Ability to maintain composure in stressful situations
- Ability to work with a diverse client base
- Related experience is an asset
