Research Assistant, School of Public Health

Primary Purpose: To provide support in developing a scale that measures transportation challenges in its users. The RA will provide support with data collection and analysis, with opportunities to be involved in presentations and publications.  

Nature of Work: The purpose of this project is to conceptualize and measure anxiety in transit users leading to the development of a new scale. This scale will inform how current transit systems/routes meet the needs of its residents and how they can be potentially improved. We are looking for one graduate research assistant to help the research team conduct focus groups and assist with qualitative analysis using NVivo.

Accountabilities: The primary responsibilities of the Graduate Research Assistant will be to:

  • Help conduct focus groups
  • Assist in performing qualitative analyses
  • Meet bi-weekly (progress update) 

Qualifications
Eligibility: Must be enrolled as a graduate student at the University of Saskatchewan and must be on-campus (work will take place at the Driving Simulation and Research Laboratory).

Experience: Research experience in Health Studies, Clinical Psychology or anything related to transportation is an asset. The candidate should have prior experience conducting focus groups/interviews, is familiar with qualitative analysis, experience with using NVivo, and have good critical thinking and writing skills.

Skills: Effective communication skills (written and verbal); Strong interpersonal skills, including ability to take initiative and working independently and within a team structure.
