Manager of Adult Respite and Homeshare (37.5 hours weekly) – Richmond, BC

Respite and Homeshare presents an opportunity for individuals to build relationships with caregivers whose lifestyle complements their own. We take great care in finding the right match, based first and foremost on the person's strengths, interests and abilities, not their disability. The Manager promotes program development that is family centered and is responsive to personal choices. They provide ongoing support to individuals, their roommates, caregivers, and families. They are committed to providing opportunities that help individuals using the services to build their networks, increase their natural supports, and expand areas of interest and competency thereby increasing self determination, self esteem, and inclusion.

YOUR IMPACT

  • Recruit individuals and/or families suited to being a caregiver. This includes an in-depth screening process as well at times may include a home study.
  • Provide ongoing support, advice to families and caregivers, as well as training opportunities.
  • Evaluates caregiver situations formally and informally on an ongoing basis. Review contracts and any concerns which may arise in consultation with their Program Director.
  • Ensure high quality services that promote dignity and empower individuals to make informed decisions and communicate their needs.
  • Encourage individuals to build connections; to live self-determined lives in the community surrounded by friends and family.
  • Establish respectful relationships with the individual, their family members and support network, providing updates as needed.
  • Support individuals to direct their person-centred planning; to achieve goals based on their own preferences, beliefs and desires.
  • Maintains contracts with caregivers in keeping with Aspire guidelines.

YOUR CAPABILITIES

As the ideal candidate for this position, you are a results oriented, self-motivated and dynamic leader with direct experience in managing programs for adults with developmental disabilities. In addition, you have:

  • Relevant post-secondary education in social services, human resources, or a related field and/or an appropriate combination of education and experience.
  • Five to seven years of experience in the field, demonstrating progressive program management accountability.
  • Strong communication, problem solving and critical thinking skills.
  • Strong planning and program development skills and experience.
  • Ability to build effective working relationships with other professionals, family members, and organizations to ensure services are in the individual's best interest and supportive of their goals.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office suite, knowledge of ShareVision an asset.
