What We Do
Reporting to the Chief Technology Officer, the Vice President, Artificial Intelligence will be responsible for shaping and leading Fidelity Canada's overall AI strategy and implementation across the organization. This role will work closely with senior leadership to develop comprehensive AI strategies, identify opportunities for AI-driven innovation, and oversee the development and execution of innovative and scalable AI solutions and projects. The incumbent in this role will also ensure that the company remains at the forefront of AI advancements while also establishing governance frameworks to ensure responsible AI use.

What You Will Do
Set and Execute AI Strategy

  • Develop a clear understanding of the current state of AI in the organization including active pilots, vendors and projects
  • Partner with our head office (Fidelity UK) to successfully establish a cohesive, unified AI strategy and roadmap that ensures aligns with overall business priorities and objectives
  • Contribute to the development of divisional business planning and integrate AI into the company's overall strategic plan
  • Ensure roadmap flexibility and adaptability in response to market and technology shifts within the industry, including regulatory and legal

Drive Transformational Change & Long-Term Business Impact

  • Work closely with the business to understand needs and challenges
  • Partner with the business to identify and prioritize high-value, visible AI use cases, focusing resources on projects with the highest potential return on investment
  • Promote company wide understanding of AI capabilities and limitations while also fostering a culture of innovation and continuous learning
  • Position Fidelity's brand as a market leader in AI adoption by communicating AI strategies and initiatives to internal and external stakeholders

Oversee AI Development and Implementation

  • Lead the design, build and rollout of AI projects and initiatives
  • Ensure AI solutions are scalable, robust and align with Fidelity Canada's technological infrastructure
  • Drive the adoption of AI technologies to deliver measurable operational efficiencies, optimized processes, and enhanced advisor/client experiences
  • Manage budget, projects and reporting associated with AI-related initiatives based on agreed upon timelines and milestones

Establish AI Governance, Risk and Ethics Frameworks

  • Establish and implement frameworks and policies for ethical AI use to ensure fairness, clarity and accountability in AI development
  • Work effectively with Risk, Legal, Compliance, Technology teams and other areas of the business to mitigate risks related to

  • Complex regulations pertaining to bias, privacy and intellectual property

  • AI-related cybersecurity threats by creating safeguards for AI models and data

  • Stay abreast of regulatory developments related to AI and ensure compliance with all relevant laws and standards

Team Leadership, People Management & Development

  • Evaluate resources and talent to ensure capability is in place to meet business requirements
  • Meet regularly with employees to provide timely feedback, support and coaching to develop individual and team growth
  • Ensure the effective management of relevant HR processes

  • Bonus goal development and attainment

  • Prepare and deliver annual performance reviews

  • Ensure employees are engaged, with resources to be successful, and a clear understanding of role responsibilities

Expertise You Will Bring

  • Deep expertise in AI/ML technologies, natural language processing, programming languages and emerging trends
  • Proven track record of building and leading organizational AI initiatives and projects
  • Strong understanding of AI governance, risk management and ethics
  • Ability to communicate complex concepts to technical and non-technical stakeholders
  • Experience with big data technologies and cloud platforms
  • Excellent relationship building, influencing and negotiation skills to drive change across the organization
  • Strong business acumen with experience aligning technology to organizational strategy

What We're Looking For

  • 7+ years of experience in AI/Emerging technologies with 5+ years in a senior leadership capacity
  • Completion of University degree (in computer Science, machine learning, data science, AI or related field) or equivalent experience
  • Deep expertise in AI/ML technologies (MS Power Automate), natural language processing, programming
  • Languages (R, Python) and emerging trends
  • Experience with big data technologies (Hadoop, Apache Spark) and cloud platforms (AWS, Azure, GCP, Snowflake)
  • Master's degree is an asset
  • Industry-related certification (CPA, PMO) is an advantage
