Quality Lead – Major Projects

Key Responsibilities:
- Lead the oversight of the quality management of major utility projects from an owner's perspective alongside the Quality Manager, ensuring that all activities are completed according to approved procedures, best practices and regulatory requirements.
- Plan and conduct audits and surveillance activities on Contactors, consultants and internal owner teams processes, plans and activities.
- Lead the development, implementation and improvement of Quality strategies across the Major Project Division. Develop processes, plans and instructions to build a scalable quality program.
- Designing and implementing governance processes, standards, and internal policies that support and guide the delivery of energy management programs and initiatives.
- Compile and analyze data to identify trends and areas for improvement within Hydro's major project work sites.
- Communicate effectively with stakeholders, including employees, contractors and suppliers to ensure quality expectations are met
- Assist in preparation of Hydro's Major Project quality awareness across its Major Projects Portfolio. ensuring an enhanced focus on documentation, processes and tracking of such.
- Report and ensure consultant/contractors report KPI's for non-conformances, corrective actions and audit finding for Project Leadership. Attend quality meetings for various construction sites across major projects
- Review and approve ITPs, checklists, Contactor and Consultant quality plans.
- Conduct regular audits and inspections to identify areas for improvement and implement corrective actions.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to ensure quality is integrated into all aspects of operations.
- Analyze data to identify trends and areas for improvement and develop strategies to address them.
- Communicate effectively with stakeholders, including employees, customers, and suppliers, to ensure quality expectations are met.
- Acts as an interface with Consultants/Contactors for quality related issues.
What You'll Need:
- Diploma in Engineering Technology, Quality Management, or a related discipline preferred. Equivalent combination of education and progressively responsible experience in quality management may be considered.
- Extensive background in Quality Management (Minimum of 7-8 years of progressive experience) on large engineering and construction projects with a focus on Electric Utility infrastructure.
- Extensive background on managing and overseeing Major Projects within an owner's team atmosphere.
- Experience with Project execution for FEED, engineering design, contacts, execution and turnover.
- Training and knowledge of Quality Management systems and development inside an organization
- Must have excellent technical writing skills and communication skills.
- Comfortable in leading meetings and resolving quality issues across all departments within NL Hydro.
- Demonstrated leadership skills in developing and leading diverse work teams.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
