Occupational Therapist Assistant (Part-Time – Evenings & Weekends)

Location: Synergy Kids, Oakville, ON

Hours: 10–20 hours per week (up to 3 shifts/week)

Shift Times: Evenings and weekends only

Position Type: In-Person

The start date for this role is flexible for the right applicant. Synergy Kids is seeking a compassionate, skilled, and client-focused Occupational Therapist Assistant (OTA) to support our growing Occupational Therapy department. This is an exciting opportunity to work directly with children and teens with Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD) and other developmental challenges in a dynamic, collaborative environment. The successful candidate will play a vital role in delivering therapeutic interventions and supporting client independence and quality of life. The start date and number of hours per week can be modified for the right applicant. This role could be combined with a Reception role if an applicant was interested in full-time hours. Applicants can note their preference in their cover letter/email. We expect the role will begin in January/February 2026.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Support Occupational Therapists in delivering therapy services to pediatric clients with ASD and other developmental needs.
  • Assist in implementing individualized treatment plans under OT supervision.
  • Conduct 1:1 therapy sessions and group-based interventions focused on skill development and functional independence.
  • Document session notes, track progress, and share key observations with the supervising OT including use of the
  • Help set up and adjust adaptive equipment to support daily living activities.
  • Collaborate with families and caregivers to reinforce therapeutic strategies at home.
  • Maintain accurate and organized documentation in accordance with clinic standards.

Qualifications:

Education & Certification

  • Diploma in Occupational Therapist Assistant (OTA) or OTA/PTA from an accredited institution.
  • Valid First Aid and CPR certification.
  • Current (or willing to obtain) Vulnerable Sector Screening.

Experience

  • Minimum 2 years of experience in an OTA role or relevant support position.
  • Experience working with children and/or youth with ASD is a strong asset.
  • Familiarity with medical terminology and evidence-based OT treatment approaches.

  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills to engage clients, caregivers, and team members effectively.
  • Organized, detail-oriented, and confident in documenting and reporting client progress.
  • Demonstrated ability to follow supervision and contribute to a multidisciplinary team.
  • A positive, energetic, and compassionate approach to working with children and families.
