We have an immediate, full-time permanent position for an experienced Water Quality Specialist, based out of any of our offices (remote locations will also be considered). In this role, you will support and lead water quality projects across various sectors — with a focus on mining, baseline studies, and environmental assessments and permitting. Working alongside a team of water resources scientists, biologists and environmental professionals, you will contribute to business development initiatives, project delivery, and technical development for our junior team members. What you bring to the Role:
· Working knowledge of Canadian and provincial water quality guidelines, legislation, regulations and standards (focus on mining activities).
· Advanced understanding of water quality analysis, statistical interpretation, and trend analysis for baseline and operational data.
· Familiarity with hydrology, hydrogeology, and geochemistry to support integrated watershed and water balance assessments.
· Experience interpreting large datasets using tools such as EsDat or similar platforms; experience using GoldSim, RStudio, Aquarius, or other water quality analysis software is an asset.
· Proven ability to manage projects, lead multi-disciplinary teams, and communicate effectively with clients and regulators.
· Professional registration (e.g., P.Geo., RPBio, P.Ag.), or eligibility for registration immediately upon hiring.
· A collaborative and adaptable mindset, with a commitment to mentoring junior staff and fostering a supportive, professional team environment.
· Willingness and ability to travel for fieldwork, including in remote and northern locations.
Key Responsibilities:
· Lead and/or support the design, implementation, and management of water quality programs, including baseline studies, operational monitoring, and EA support.
· Conduct and interpret statistical analyses and water quality trend analysis in support of regulatory compliance, permitting, and environmental impact assessments.
· Contribute to the preparation and review of technical reports, including regulatory submissions, water quality assessments, and mine permit applications.
· Provide technical direction, mentorship, and guidance to junior and intermediate staff supporting team development and project delivery.
· Collaborate with internal and external stakeholders, including clients, regulators, and Indigenous engagement groups.
· Participate in business development activities, proposal writing, scope of work and budget development, and building client relationships.
· Support project management and team coordination for water resources projects.
· Participate proactively in EDI's health and safety program.
Qualifications and Experience:
· Bachelor's or graduate degree in environmental science, earth science, water resources, chemistry, or a related discipline.
· 8+ years of experience, including consulting experience in a water quality focused discipline; additional experience in hydrology or hydrogeology considered an asset.
· Professional registration (P.Geo., P.Eng., RPBio, or equivalent) or immediate eligibility.
· Proficiency in water quality analysis tools and data platforms (e.g., EsDat, R, Excel); modeling experience (e.g., GoldSim) considered an asset.
· Strong written and verbal communication skills; experience authoring technical reports and regulatory documentation.
· A collaborative mindset, with a passion for mentoring and developing junior team members.
· Valid Class 5 driver's license.

The typical compensation range for this position is from $85,000 – $128,000 annually; the compensation offered may vary depending on job-related knowledge, skills, experience, and internal equity.
