Systems Solutions Engineer

Hybrid Role

Position Summary

We are seeking a knowledgeable and detail-oriented Systems Solutions Engineer to provide the technical design and pre-sales support for integrated wired and wireless solutions across access control, nurse call, surveillance, Unified Communications, and Contact Centre platforms.

This role is ideal for a technically strong, organized individual who enjoys designing Information Communications and Technology (ICT) solutions and providing technical sales support across all verticals, including senior living and healthcare.

The ideal candidate will have a solid foundation in nurse call, surveillance, access control, telephony, network infrastructure, low-voltage cabling, and strong documentation, coordination, and customer-facing skills. While this is not a hands-on installation role, a deep understanding of system implementation is essential to ensure scalable, practical solutions and maintain a strong feedback loop between design and delivery.

What You'll Do

Design & Implementation Planning

  • Produce device layouts, topologies, and integration notes that make technology simple for clients and field teams.
  • Specify licensing, device counts, PoE budgets, VLAN/IP plans, and tie-ins (voice/paging/fire panel/Building Automated System)
  • Read electrical/architectural/conduit drawings to place readers, strikes/maglocks, REX, cameras, pull cords, and sensors.
  • Run site surveys; turn requirements and photos into workable designs.

Pre-Sales & Documentation

  • Build BOMs, cost models, and budgetary estimates for quotes/RFPs.
  • Draft Scopes of Work that clearly split Unity vs. client responsibilities.
  • Maintain drawings, schedules, and change notes through Design → Implement → Optimize → Manage.

Tools

  • Visio (or similar) for diagrams; Excel for estimating; Word/PowerPoint/Outlook for deliverables.

Qualifications

  • 1–3 years in low-voltage/systems integration/technical support (cabling or field tech background welcome).
  • Working grasp of nurse call plus at least two of: access control, CCTV/NVR, intrusion, telephony/UC.
  • Solid basics in Layer 2/3 networking (VLANs, DHCP, NAT, subnetting) and PoE budgeting.
  • Comfortable explaining technical choices to non-technical stakeholders.
  • Organized, detail-sharp, steady during cutovers or live integrations.

Nice to Have

  • AutoCAD or Bluebeam Revu.
  • CompTIA Network+, CCNA, BICSI, or vendor platform training (Mitel/Avaya/Grandstream, common access control & nurse call).
