THE ROLE:  

AMD's Computing and Graphics Central Engineering (CGC) team is seeking a Lead Engineer with a strong focus on automation solutions to provide technical leadership, strategic vision, and architectural expertise across our automation initiatives. This role requires a dynamic, hands-on technical leader to drive the design, implementation and optimization of automation frameworks and systems that directly impact the efficiency and quality of our product delivery processes. The Technical Lead will collaborate with engineering teams across business units to deliver unified and scalable automation solutions that elevate the efficiency and capacity of the product delivery teams.

THE PERSON:  

As a Technical Lead Engineer in Systems Design Engineering, you will be responsible for architecting and delivering scalable, efficient and user-friendly automation solutions. You will leverage your expertise in automation technologies, cloud platforms, and system design to define and implement strategic automation solutions that enhance engineering workflows, product quality, and operational efficiency across multiple teams.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:  

Drive the automation architecture, ensuring solutions are scalable, maintainable, and aligned with business objectivesEnhance and scale our automation solution to support diverse workloads on GPUs and CPUsCollaborate closely with engineers within and outside the team to design solutions that address complex automation challengesWork on functional design, prototyping, testing, training, and defining support proceduresAdvise team, business and technical stakeholders on the best practices, technology choices, and deployment strategies for automation, aligning them with broader organizational goalsArticulate and document the solutions architecture and lessons learned for each solution deliveredShare automation technical knowledge with other team members to increase team capabilities

PREFERRED EXPERIENCE:  

Proven experience in designing and implementing automation solutions for large-scale systems, from initial concept through productizationExperience with software development methodologies and best practicesHands-on experience with silicon validation and/or power/performance analysisPractical DevOps knowledgeSignificant coding experience, including a deep knowledge of PythonExperience with source control tools (Git, in particular), issue management tools (e.g. JIRA), and project management framework tools (e.g. Agile, Kanban, Scrum)Knowledge of algorithms, object-oriented and functional design principles, and code development best practicesStrong communication and collaboration skillsMust be a self-starter, and be able to independently drive tasks to completion 

ACADEMIC CREDENTIALS:  

Bachelors or Masters degree in computer engineering, computer science, electrical or related discipline
