The Maintenance Supervisor is responsible and accountable for organizing and motivating a strong team of Maintenance workers.  These folks support the site and building infrastructure as well as repairing and maintaining machinery, tools and equipment.  The Maintenance Supervisor will be a knowledgeable, motivated and safety oriented leader who is not afraid to get his/her hands dirty to support Production and ensure customer commitments are met.

 Duties and Responsibilities

  • Responsible for the direct supervision of Maintenance team.
  • Responsible and accountable for continuous improvement of quality output and productivity within the team.
  • Must thoroughly understand, communicate and adhere to all Titan Trailers policies and procedures and ensure the Maintenance Team follow these policies and procedures at all times.
  • Must continuously perform quality and job audits.
  • Must monitor and ensure adherence to safety policies and procedures at all times throughout Titan Trailers.
  • Must understand and be accountable for legal obligations under the Occupational Health and Safety Act as it applies to supervisors.
  • Must have strong communication skills and be able to communicate verbally, through email or through written communication, provide all necessary information within the department and to other management in a respectful and understandable manner.
  • Must be able to complete a detailed performance evaluation for all team members and provide constructive feedback in order to ensure continuously improved job performance.

 Essential Functions

  •  Proven ability to supervise and inform team members in all aspects relating to the details of their job, department responsibilities and ensure each employee understands and complies with all Titan Trailers departmental policies and procedures.
  • Must ensure housekeeping through the department and the shop is in compliance with safety regulations.
  • Must consistently maintain high quality standards.
  • Must ensure team members have on-the-job training and procedural training required for success by communicating operational and safety aspects associated with the job.
  • Able to step in and support problem diagnostics, parts repair or replace and preventative maintenance as required.
  • Shift and vacation scheduling for team - Preventative Maintenance Planning - Contractor liaison - Problem solving
  • Accountable for continuously developing process improvements, and identifying department and shop wide deficiencies.
  • Ensure the team has what they need to do their job at all times - provide support and guidance as needed.
  • Must lead by example with a positive attitude.

 Minimum Qualifications

  •  Minimum of grade 12 education required. 
  • A minimum of three years' experience in a supervisory capacity within a manufacturing (Welding and Fabrication) production plant.
  • Training/Knowledge – supervisory training - Maintenance Millwright Certification an asset
  •  Proven ability to direct others and coordinate a department in a fast – paced manufacturing environment.
  • Must be mechanically inclined with the ability to operate and understand a wide range of industrial equipment/machinery and tools.
  • Ability to perform and understand job functions in the department.
  • Proficient in the use and implementation of maintenance tracking and planning software.
  • Ability to effectively communicate with all employees and other management in a concise, courteous and informed fashion.
  • Must be able to manage your time and departmental employees' time effectively.
  • Must possess excellent communication skills, attention to production details and concentration.
  • Ability to plan and schedule departmental production capacity.
  • Ability to give 100% to the job when on duty and expect nothing less from all team members.

 Work Conditions

  • Interacts with employees and management
  • Must be willing and able to work flexible shifts and changing work schedules.
  • Overtime will be required.
  • Must be able to multi task and work on several projects at once, or switch projects at a moment's notice
  • Must be able to work under pressure and meet very tight deadlines

The starting wage for this position is dependent on experience and training.  Upon successful completion of a 6-month probationary period the candidate will be eligible to take part in our Management Level benefits package, including health, dental, life insurance, Group RRSP and clothing/safety shoe program.
