Position Summary

Reporting to the Corporate Properties Lead, the Labourer is responsible for inspection, maintenance and repair of buildings and grounds owned/leased by the County (includes administration office, fire halls, and all buildings housing County equipment and/or employees). The Labourer will also be required to help facilitate/perform office renovations, office moves and facility systems upgrades as scheduled.

Core Accountabilities
  • Respond to building maintenance requests and concerns in a professional and timely fashion.
  • Perform general labour duties associated with maintenance of County assets and property.
  • Painting.
  • Maintaining vehicles through cleaning and washing.
  • Grass and weed mowing and cutting.
  • Litter cleanup and disposal.
  • Ensure efficient completion of daily work assignments.
  • Participate in and contribute to safety meetings and job hazard assessment reviews.
  • Ensure County flags and flag poles are in good repair; raise and lower flags as appropriate.
  • Work in accordance with the requirements established by the RVC Health and Safety Program and the Alberta OHS Act, Regulation and Code.
  • Take reasonable care to protect their health and safety and other persons at or in the vicinity of the worksite while they are working.
  • Perform other duties and special projects as assigned.
Position Requirements
  • Physically able to perform demanding tasks including: bending, shoveling, heavy lifting up to 18 kilograms (40 pounds), and operating equipment for extended periods of time.
  • Ability to work independently with minimal supervision, or work as part of a team.
  • Demonstrate and execute safe and skillful operation of equipment at all times.
  • Foster positive relationships with internal and external customers.
  • Participate in and contribute to safety meetings and job hazard assessment reviews.
  • Ensure appropriate utilization of personal protective equipment (PPE) required (e.g., CSA footwear).
  • Must possess a valid class 5 Alberta driver's license with minimal infractions and have access to reliable transportation (abstract pulled by the County during pre-employment process).
  • Ability to work weekends and overtime, as required.
