Job Summary

We are seeking a skilled and dependable Oil Heat System Technician to install, service, maintain, and repair oil-fired heating systems in residential and/or commercial properties. The ideal candidate is safety-focused, mechanically inclined, and experienced with oil-burning equipment and fuel systems.

Key Responsibilities

  • Install, troubleshoot, repair, and maintain oil-fired heating systems (furnaces, boilers, burners)
  • Perform annual inspections, cleanings, and efficiency testing
  • Diagnose system issues and recommend appropriate repairs or replacements
  • Service oil tanks, fuel lines, pumps, nozzles, and controls
  • Ensure all work complies with applicable codes, regulations, and safety standards
  • Accurately complete service reports, work orders, and customer documentation
  • Communicate clearly with customers regarding system condition, repairs, and preventative maintenance
  • Maintain tools, equipment, and company vehicle (if provided)
  • Participate in on-call or emergency service rotations as required

Qualifications & Requirements

  • Valid Oil Burner Technician (OBT) certification or equivalent
  • Minimum 2 years of experience servicing oil heat systems
  • Strong understanding of combustion principles and heating controls
  • Ability to read wiring diagrams and technical manuals
  • Valid driver's license with a clean driving record
  • Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving skills
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team
  • Physically capable of performing field work (lifting, bending, confined spaces)

Preferred Assets

  • Experience with both residential and light commercial systems
  • Additional certifications (e.g., gas, refrigeration, electrical)
  • Familiarity with energy efficiency upgrades and system retrofits
  • Customer service experience in a field service environment
